Monthly Gifts Brighten Futures
When Mosaic Early Learning classes resumed in-person learning, circle-time was filled with the chatter of little voices, happy to be back together to learn. But after a few weeks, one student’s place in the circle was noticeably absent. Family Service Advocates talked with the family and they realized that Eliana wasn’t coming to class because she had no clothes to wear. A growth spurt made all her clothes too small, and the only thing that fit were her pajamas.

Thanks to your monthly donations, Eliana’s family was assisted in purchasing brand new outfits and new shoes that fit. Eliana was thrilled to return to class and join her friends in the songs and stories that she loves to share with her family at the end of each day. Because of you, she’s back on track to learn and have a bright future heading into kindergarten.

A small monthly gift goes a long way. Become a monthly donor today.

Q: If you were to tell one person "Thank You" for helping you become the person you are today, who would it be and why?

If I could tell one person "Thank You" for helping me become the person I am today, it would be my dad because he was always the one to push me to be independent and form my own opinions, while always remaining respectful and humble for everything that I have worked for.

Q: If you could live anywhere on this planet and take everything that you love with you, where would you choose to live? Why?

If I could live anywhere on this planet and take everything that I love with me, I would choose to live in Greece. My grandmother is from Greece, and ever since I was a child Greek mythology has always fascinated me. I have also always appreciated the culture, beauty, and history of Greece.

Q: What has surprised you most about serving at Center For Family Services?

I was surprised to see how big the team was! Every meeting I go to I meet someone new. It's exciting to see that there are so many moving pieces in CFS and again just shows the inclusivity of this organization.

Q: If you were to tell one person "Thank You" for helping you become the person you are today, who would it be and why?

It would definitely be my mom. She has been my role model and my greatest support. Even in our disagreements, she still chooses to support my decisions. I am forever grateful to have a mom who is so patient, loving, and supports all that I pursue in life.

Q: Describe your role. How do you think your role fosters our vision of all people leading capable, responsible, fulfilled lives?

As a Fundraising and Marketing VISTA, I conduct research to evaluate ways to increase funding, more specifically, I work with the other VISTAs finding ways to make the Center For Family Services' existing events more engaging and effective. I may not work directly with the families who receive our care, but it is fulfilling to know that my work makes it possible for us to serve more people and give them a higher quality of life. Finding ways to increase funding for programs gives me the opportunity to provide families in need with the ability to build a healthier future.

Q: If you were to tell one person "Thank You" for helping you become the person you are today, who would it be and why?

My mom has been an inspiration to me for as long as I can remember. I am so grateful that I do get to thank her every day for being an amazing single-mother of three. I thank her for supporting me through everything, for preparing me for college and my first job, and for loving me unconditionally.

Q: What has surprised you most about serving at Center For Family Services?

The loveliest surprise I have experienced serving at Center for Family Services is the genuine and strong community amongst the staff. Of course, everyone wants to work in a positive environment but coming to Center for Family Services has blown me away with the types of events we hold. The Juneteenth and Pride meetings were fantastic and showed such care for holding space for all individuals. I have felt so much encouragement from the very beginning; I had only been working for Center for Family Services for a week or so, and I received so many birthday emails. It’s so nice to work for an organization that focuses on making a change on the outside while also recognizing the people internally as well.

I’d thank my parents for helping me become the person I am today. I have such an amazing relationship with them and they have always supported me in every endeavor. I was a wild and passionate child growing up so it wasn’t very easy to parent me but they always embraced my dreams without question. Both of my parents hold such amazing qualities I hope to inherit as I age. Having experienced such an amazing family, I can see how growing up with a strong support system can affect someone so I hope my work at Center for Family Services is able to help create a strong support system for those who do not have it.

Q: If you were to tell one person "Thank You" for helping you become the person you are today, who would it be and why?

I would thank my mother because she has always been very supportive of me, and has helped me achieve a lot so far.

Q: If you could live anywhere on this planet and take everything that you love with you, where would you choose to live? Why?

I would choose Los Angeles because the weather is much better and there's a lot of opportunity there. I love big cities!
