THE SPARK
Highlighting outstanding donor and volunteer impact
throughout Center For Family Services.

You Can Help
Reunite Families
In the last year, Center For Family Services expanded our housing services to provide safety to vulnerable children who crossed the southern border into the United States in search of safety.

We offer a welcoming and safe home environment for these children while in our care. As soon as they arrive, we begin the process of family reunification and provide food, shelter, and access to medical care, but your help is needed to help us provide additional support.

Click here to learn how you can help us continue to serve a vital role in the lives of migrant children and help make families whole again by starting a collection, becoming a shelter home parent, or making a financial gift.
Making Young People Feel Loved, One Bag at a Time
Thanks to the generosity and kindness of One Simple Wish and their "Love Bag", 100+ children and teens living with us will receive a brightly colored and sturdy tote bag to call their own. Each bag is filled with a pen, colored pencils, sketch/notebook, and stress ball.

Because of you, a young person going through a difficult situation knows that someone cares about them. Even better? The items in the bag are great tools to distress, be creative, and unwind. Thank you for making this donation possible, One Simple Wish!
We Love Books!
Thank you to the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation for their grant to benefit Born to Read. This important funding will provide new books to expand home libraries for our preschool children. Thank you for supporting efforts to foster a love and understanding of reading that will set children on a path to success in school and beyond!
Welcome
to Camden, Subaru!
Thank you Subaru of America employee volunteers! Because of your dedication to community service, flooding in key areas in Camden will be lessened and local native plant ecosystems have been restored. We are grateful for your commitment to volunteerism here in Camden and are excited to welcome you to the city!

The Next Gen of Leaders
Pete and Linda Musumeci - Thank you for your long-term investment in building a culture of philanthropy among the next generation of community leaders. Your support of Quixote Quest for more than a decade created an opportunity for teen volunteers to provide direct support to those in need in our South Jersey community.

This year's Quixote Quest graduating class has many rising stars who will continue to be leaders when it comes to community service and philanthropy. A special shout out to this year's winner of the Musumeci Grand Magis Award for extraordinary leadership achievement - Lexi Blecher.
Giving That Matters
Thank you to Campbell Soup volunteers for dedicating time to Center For Family Services during your Giving That Matters Week!

You accomplished three incredible projects in one morning and you made a huge difference to the families we serve.
Thank you for:
  • Volunteering at Hope Mobile to distribute fresh produce and other foods to families in need.
  • Beautifying and planting vegetables at Cooper Sprouts Garden.
  • Taking school pictures for our Centerville Head Start Students.
Because of you, our Camden neighbors will be able to enjoy homegrown food and our Head Start families will be able to treasure the memory of their preschoolers' first school photo.
Scholarships Create Opportunities
A growing group of our young adults are continuing their education thanks to scholarships from Impact Charity Services. This fall, 3 of our young adults will begin training in the fields of computer science, HVAC training, and welding thanks to a scholarship from Impact Charity Services.

Four other young adults are nearing graduation thanks to receiving an Impact Charity Services scholarship. And, the first Impact scholarship recipient continues to be employed full-time thanks to the chance she was given to further her education.

To everyone at Impact Charity Services - thank you for providing the opportunity for our young adults to follow a pathway to success.
Finding a Pathway
to Success
Claira overcame countless obstacles to get where she is today.  Thanks to Claira's own determination combined with the support of our Mother Child program, funding from United Way of Gloucester County, and the connection to a caring mentor (Cindy, pictured right), Claira followed a pathway to success. Today she is working her dream job, caring for her son, and giving back to the community. Click here to read her success story.
A Special Day
Thank you  Sheltered Yoga for providing a Golf & Spa experience for our group of teen girls. They enjoyed the special day - massage, yoga class, mini facial, manicure, buffet lunch, and the yoga mat gift - and we appreciate the time and energy you put into making the event so special!
Friday Food Packs
Thank you to all our Quixote Quest teen volunteers and to all our supporters of the Qaravana weekend food pack program - including Qaravana sponsors, The Domenica Foundation, The Connelly Foundation, State Farm Neighborhood Assist, Peter M. Musumeci and Linda M. Musumeci, and Quixote Quest members and alumni.  Because of you 106 children received food packs every Friday during the school year! This is only possible because of you.

$16.50/month is all it takes to provide food packs for one child for the new school year. Provide weekend meals to a child with your monthly gift. Click here to learn more.
Spreading Her Wings, Because of You
Last month, former Center For Family Services resident, Kaysie Getty, achieved her dream of graduating with a Masters in Social Work. Because of your support of her during her time at both our emergency safe house and supportive apartments, Kaysie was able to set goals and realize anything is possible with hard work and passion.

In June, Kaysie accomplished yet another goal when she moved to the D.C./Maryland metro for a position as a policy specialist with FosterClub where she'll advocate for other young people in foster care.

Thank you for cheering on Kaysie during her journey!
Helping Hands
Thank you to the 4th and 6th grade Helping Hands students at Wenonah School! Your collection of diapers and toiletries has made a huge difference to the mothers in our Mother-Child program. We are so impressed with the donation, as well as the two bake sales you organized to raise money!

You guys rock! Keep making the world a better place!

Standing Tall
for Survivors
Thank you for your participation in this years' Denim Day campaign. Throughout the month of April you stood tall for survivors of sexual violence in our community by wearing denim, sporting Stand.Speak.Empower. buttons, and attending outreach events, like Rowan's Take Back the Night. Your voice is helping to raise awareness around this epidemic and is letting survivors know they're not alone.

You can continue your support of survivors of violence by participating in our upcoming Empower Run & 1 Mile Walk on Saturday, September 29th. Start a team in honor or memory of someone affected by violence - register today.
Thank You Fore Pitching In!
On June 4th 2018 we welcomed 120 golfers to Little Mill Country Club for our 23rd Annual Golf Tournament. Because of your participation, over $67,000 was raised in support of providing opportunities for success for children and young people in our care.

We're honored to partner with the countless sponsors, golfers, and donors who make this event a success, year after year. Your support helps to build brighter futures for the children and families we serve across South Jersey.
