The Students

On January 10th, Erie Day School students had the incredible honor of performing the National Anthem at the Erie Otters home game. Under the expert direction of Mrs. Cherie Lachowski and Mrs. Ainsley Showalter, the students practiced diligently each week, fine-tuning their notes to deliver a memorable performance.

This occasion was especially momentous, as it coincided with the retirement of Connor McDavid’s jersey—a rare and prestigious event in hockey. McDavid, widely regarded as one of the most talented players in NHL history, began his professional journey with the Erie Otters, where he displayed unparalleled skill, earning the admiration of fans and players alike. His jersey retirement is a tribute to his outstanding contributions to the team and the sport.

Performing on such a historic evening was a unique experience for our students and a proud moment for Erie Day School!

The Campus

Today, Saturday, February 1, 2025, Erie Day School is hosting its Prospective Student Open House from 1–3 PM. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to explore everything EDS has to offer!

Our dedicated faculty and enthusiastic Student Council members are ready to welcome guests, lead tours, and answer any questions you may have. EDS is a community built on wisdom, kindness, and respect, and we can’t wait to share that spirit with prospective families.

We are so grateful for the support and referrals from our community. Your recommendations help us connect with families who share our values and vision. Word-of-mouth plays a key role in meeting our enrollment goals, ensuring our school continues to thrive and grow.

A special joy of events like this is welcoming children and grandchildren of our alumni. Seeing these familiar family ties and reconnecting with past students through the next generation brings us so much pride and happiness.

If you can’t join us today, don’t worry! You’re welcome to schedule a personalized tour at your convenience to discover what makes EDS such a unique and inspiring learning environment.

Please share this opportunity with friends, family, and neighbors who may be interested in becoming part of the EDS community. Thank you for being an essential part of our success and helping us grow the future of Erie Day School!

The Teachers

Erie Day School is delighted to welcome Mrs. Cheyenne Carpinello to our teaching community this year! Mrs. Carpinello brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her role as our STEM educator. Her unique background in ceramics and metalsmithing infuses her teaching with a blend of artistry and innovation, inspiring students to explore the fascinating intersections of science, technology, engineering, and art.

Mrs. Carpinello has already made a splash with her dedication to hands-on, experiential learning. One of her most exciting initiatives is leading the Trout in the Classroom program, an educational venture supported by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Through this program, students will experience firsthand the lifecycle of trout, beginning with the arrival of trout eggs at EDS. Over the coming months, students will nurture the eggs, witness their transformation into young trout, and release them into Walnut Creek this spring. This program not only teaches ecological responsibility but also fosters a deep appreciation for our natural environment and the importance of preserving local ecosystems.

We are thrilled to have Mrs. Carpinello as part of the Erie Day School family and can’t wait to see how her passion and expertise continue to shape our students' educational journeys. Be sure to stop by and check out the trout—a living testament to her commitment to inspiring young minds!

The Alumni

Erie Day School is proud to highlight Courtney Doyle, a third-generation EDS alumna whose dedication to her alma mater and the Erie community shines brightly. Courtney recently launched her business, True North Events, and has quickly established herself as the go-to event planner in the region, known for her creativity, attention to detail, and flawless execution. Beyond her professional success, Courtney maintains a strong connection to EDS as the proud mother of Sawyer and Reagan, both current students at the school.

In addition to her business accomplishments, Courtney is an invaluable volunteer, lending her talents to the annual auction committee. Her efforts play a key role in raising critical funds that help expand EDS programs and ensure continued growth. Courtney’s enthusiasm for her work and her commitment to the school community reflect the very best of what it means to be an EDS alumna. We are grateful for her contributions and thrilled to celebrate her success!
