You’re invited! —
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And He said to me, “These are the true words of God.””
— Revelation 19:9 ESV
Imagine the most wonderful wedding you’ve ever seen, perhaps your own, maybe Princess Diana’s, but let me tell you — the most glorious wedding of all time is yet to come, and you’re invited!! It’s happening soon, and believe me, you don’t want to miss it!
I go to Prepare a Place for You! —
“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
— John 14:2-3 ESV
In many weddings, the beautiful bride walks down the aisle to be married to her beloved husband. In traditional Jewish weddings however, the couple is engaged, and the groom goes away to prepare a place for his bride, and she waits expectantly for him to come take her away to be with him. He could come for her at any time, and it’s a wonderful surprise! She is always watching, expectantly waiting, and getting ready for him! How romantic!
The Marriage Supper of the Lamb! —
“Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;” — Revelation 19:7 ESV
Did you catch that?! The Bride has made herself ready! Are you getting ready? Are you putting the pieces of this glorious, heavenly puzzle together with me? We the Church are the Bride, and Jesus Christ is the Groom! We are all invited to the wedding in Heaven, to the place He has gone to prepare for us! He’s coming back to get us and take us Home to live with Him forever. When? In the imminent rapture of the church (see the previous Rock email devotional).
The Spirit and the Bride say, Come! —
“The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”
— Revelation 22:17 ESV
I’ve never in my life been more excited and expectant of Jesus coming, and that’s got to be the Holy Spirit who lives within us! I’m hearing the same thing from so many believers right now, and yet never has the world been so dark. His light shines brighter in the darkness. We all need to be ready and have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying. The Spirit AND the Bride - Church agree! May we all be encouraged and empowered with this Good News!
