House Natural Resources Committee to Hold Hearing on Two Critical Conservation Bills
On Thursday, February 15, at 2:30 PM EST, the House Natural Resources Committee will hold a legislative hearing  to discuss the Modernizing the Pittman-Robertson Fund for Tomorrow's Needs Act of 2017  (H.R. 2591) as well as the Recovering America's Wildlife Act  (H.R. 4647), two important bills for enhancing fish and wildlife conservation. H.R. 2591, introduced by Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC)  Vice-Chair Congressman Austin Scott (GA), would amend the  Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act to allow states to use those funds for hunter recruitment and retention efforts. H.R. 4647, introduced by CSC Members Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE) and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI), would direct an additional $1.3 billion in funding for conservation of 12,000 at risk species identified in state wildlife action plans.  

Gulf of Mexico Anglers Could See Longer Red Snapper Fishing Seasons 
The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council met in New Orleans, Louisiana, during the week of January 29. Several notable actions made by the Council are intended to enhance the 2018 season and beyond for recreational anglers in the Gulf of Mexico.   Read More > >

On January 25, the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) Vice-President Representative Brian White introduced legislation (HB 4727) to reauthorize the South Carolina Conservation Bank.
