Recreational Anglers Faced with Shortest Gulf Red Snapper Season Ever
On May 2, NOAA Fisheries announced recreational anglers in the Gulf of Mexico will have three days to fish for red snapper in federal waters in 2017. The season will run from June 1-3, and include only one weekend day.

Arizona: Legislature Passes Memorial Honoring Sportsmen
On April 26,
Senate Concurrent Memorial (SCM) 1004 was passed by the Arizona Senate with bipartisan support. Introduced by Arizona Legislators for Wildlife Caucus President Senator Gail Griffin, SCM 1004 celebrates the vast contributions of Arizona's sportsmen and women to conservation in the state and across the country.

Georgia: Governor Deal Signs Hunting and Fishing Licensing Bill
At a ceremony in Brunswick, Georgia, on April 25, Governors Sportsmen's Caucus member Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia signed legislation that will adjust hunting and fishing license fees and simplify the license structure for residents and non-residents in the Peach State, for the first time since 1992.

Pennsylvania: Apprentice Hunting Bill Advances
On April 26, the Pennsylvania House Committee on Game and Fisheries unanimously voted to pass
House Bill 485
. The bill, sponsored by Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus member Representative Neil Goodman, would expand Pennsylvania's mentored hunting program to include hunters that are 12-16 years old.
