University Highlights

University Drives Nearly $300 Million in Economic Impact in Bexar County


A&M-San Antonio generated $292.6 million in economic impact for Bexar County in fiscal year 2022-23. This is nearly double its impact from just four years ago. This growth reflects the University’s expanding role in the region, supporting the equivalent of 3,200 jobs through operations, student spending, and alumni earnings.

University Advances Teacher Preparation with Enhanced Certification Approval


A&M-SA has been selected as one of the first institutions approved to offer the new Texas Teacher Residency Preparation Route, a year-long program designed to better prepare future educators through mentorship and hands-on experience. Launching this fall, the residency leads to an Enhanced Standard Certificate from the Texas Education Agency and aims to improve teacher readiness and retention.

University Softball and Golf Teams Make it to RRAC Tournament


Jaguar softball and men’s golf teams advanced to the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournaments. The softball team, making its fourth appearance in five seasons, entered the tournament as the fifth seed, while the men’s golf team builds on a record-setting year, including Jacob Pena making history as the University's first golfer to win an individual championship.

University Closes Out Fiesta with Festival de Cascarones


Nearly 7,000 guests gathered on campus for the 13th annual Festival de Cascarones on May 4, celebrating the close of Fiesta with a vibrant, family-friendly event. The party featured carnival rides, live Tejano music, food, games, and colorful cascarones for the whole San Antonio community to enjoy.

University Offering New Scientific Scuba Diving Course


The University is launching a new Scientific Diving Course this Maymester, offering students hands-on training in scuba-based biological and environmental research. Led by Dr. Fernando Calderon-Gutierrez, the course combines classroom instruction with fieldwork at local lakes and a behind-the-scenes visit to SeaWorld.
