The Revival of Gordon Park South

In late 2023, St. Clair Superior had an exciting opportunity: beloved neighborhood park Gordon Park South faced a resurgence. Over the course of 2024, the community was engaged through one-on-one interviews, community and stakeholder meetings, mobile workshops, and more. Over 400 people participated, providing 1,450 comments and ideas for the future of the Park.

The result? A community-led, collaborative vision for Gordon Park South. We are deeply appreciative of our community who shared their ideas and joined us in creating a collaborative vision for Gordon Park South.

In Our Neighborhood... DumontJanks

Ricardo Dumont and Gregory Janks from the DumontJanks consulting firm out of Boston, MA were in town last week to carry out phase two of an economic development study in the St. Clair Superior service area. The ultimate goal is to explore potential options for the future development of the neighborhood in terms of housing, business, industry, and resident quality of life.

Last week, DumontJanks held various focus groups at the Slovenian National Home to hear from key community stakeholders: residents, local business owners, industrial and manufacturing leaders, experts on housing, non-profit leaders, and local elected officials and City representatives.

After an incredibly successful turnout over the course of two days, Ricardo and Gregory could immediately recognize the passion, commitment, and resilience of the people who make up St. Clair Superior. They were in awe at the way people spoke of their community and about its potential. The DumontJanks team will present their findings to the community during their next trip as part of "phase three."

Thank you to everyone who participated in these critical focus groups. We admire your dedication to our shared mission.

Keep an eye on your email inboxes for a save the date and details on the next meeting!
