Pakistani Women
Are Key in Successful Rescue Missions
PAKISTAN (February 2021) – Over the past few decades, volunteers with Focus Humanitarian Assistance and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) have been collaborating to empower local communities to become self-reliant during times of disasters. Gradually, women in these traditionally conservative communities have realized they can play an essential role in local disaster relief efforts, particularly in Pakistan’s mountain communities.

Today, almost 50% of all community-based disaster
risk management teams consist of women
Your support helps FOCUS USA
empower women in vulnerable communities to be self-resilient

Emergency kits can save lives
After an emergency such as a severe storm or tornado, you may need to survive on your own for several days. Being prepared means having your own food, water, and other basic supplies to last for several days. If you need to evacuate due to hurricanes or wildfires, you will also need to have all your important documents and medications in one place to grab-and-go.
