In Our Neighborhood... Samantha Montanez
Samantha Montanez has lived in St. Clair Superior her entire life. Both of her parents grew up in the neighborhood, and Samantha grew up surrounded by her family on every block.
Growing up, Samantha’s father worked at EJ Kovacic Recreation Center, located in the heart of St. Clair Superior. Samantha has fond memories of playing at the rec center with other kids from the neighborhood. When SCSDC hosted a community meeting at Kovacic, Samantha saw the updates to the center for the first time and was so impressed to see all of the improvements. Growing up, Samantha spent her summers going to the rec center, enjoying neighborhood cookouts, going to the lake, and being close to family.
Samantha has some great recommendations for food in St. Clair Superior. "We are such foodies," said Samantha regarding her family. Samantha said that the best dim sum you can get is in our neighborhood at Bo Loong. She also enjoys going to Marie’s and Landmark. “These restaurants feel like family,” said Samantha, as she has been a patron of these local spots since she was very young.
Samantha and her family are very involved community members, and they do a great job of keeping up to date with upcoming projects and opportunities coming to our neighborhoods. Samantha is particularly excited about the Cleveland Metroparks CHEERS project coming to the east side lakefront. Samantha said that her "greatest hope and wish is to get our neighborhood more access to the lake and greenspace."
Samantha’s family owns a catering business called Panchita’s Catering, LLC. They focus on Puerto Rican and American food, and Polish desserts. What better way to get an authentic taste of St. Clair Superior than this! Be sure to check them out here.
Samantha is also involved with the Cleveland Lady’s Raider Fast Pitch Softball, which brings softball to the inner city. You can learn more about the organization here.
