The Spotlight's on Grace

Welcome to our Spotlight Series! One teen has become a beacon of hope, championing high functioning autistic youth like her. This is a welcome bright spot given a dramatic increase in clients this year, most reporting symptoms of depression attributed to COVID after effects along with feelings of hopelessness they say is from frequently viewing pessimistic social media. So here's to you, little beacon!

You inspire us when we need it most!

Meet Grace

Grace is in our Summer Spotlight. She graduated from high school in June with honors. She's an endearing mix of outgoing and a bit awkward. Yet she confronted her social challenges by starting a group for high functioning autistic teens like her. Still she struggles with insecurities relating to autism, especially with social media 'friends'. Her virtual friendships contribute to her anxiety to the point of bruising herself when her post is ignored. We reached out and showed Grace how to overcome deeply negative thoughts that continually loop in her mind, overriding them with messages and activities that ignite hope for her, hope she's already paying forward.
