ISC has an Online Training Program, which includes the Invasive Forest Pest Training course and the Oak Wilt Training course. Courses are for anyone wanting to learn more about these invasive species and their impact to Canada’s ecology, economy, and society.

Climate change and invasive species are both major drivers of biodiversity loss worldwide.These two drivers can act together, increasing their negative impacts. For example, tree loss due to forest pests decreases available carbon storage. Follow the link to learn more. |

The 23rd International Conference on Aquatic Invasive Species will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, from May 12 – 16, 2024. The conference theme is ‘Meeting Challenges with Innovation.' Stay tuned for more details.

A Look Back at Recent Events |
|
The Invasive Species Centre hosted over 900 attendees at the 4th annual Invasive Species Forum, ‘Invasive Species Action in a Changing Climate,’ virtually from February 7-9. The Forum brought together invasive species experts including over 60 speakers, calling attention to issues, research, and advances in preventing and managing invasive species across Canada and in neighbouring U.S. States.
The Forum also celebrated nominees and winners of the annual Invasive Species Centre Awards, recognizing the leadership and commitment of those who help keep lands and waters in Canada free from invasive species.

In November 2022, members of our team attended the North American Invasive Species Management Association's (NAISMA) Annual Conference, presenting about eDNA, municipal expenditures and community action. |
|
The ISC hosted a workshop and demonstration on invasive species detection tools at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity which took place from December 7th to 19th in Montréal, Quebec. Learn more about COP15 here. |

On November 16, the Invasive Species Centre hosted an Invasive Species Awareness Event, along with our partners, at Queen’s Park in Toronto. Invasive species have growing economic, ecological, and social impacts in Ontario, and we’re pleased to have discussed action-ready solutions to get ahead on invasive species. |
