After months and years of investigating, planning, consulting, preparation, and deliberation, the board has approved a contract with Court One of Granite Quarry to rebuild our tennis/pickleball courts. Work will begin later this year, with final touches to be completed next spring. When finished, the area will feature one permanent tennis court, two permanent pickleball courts, and two other pickleball courts employing portable, thus removable, nets.
The decision comes three years after the board agreed to spend $35,000 to rebuild and reinforce the slope north of the courts, which over the years had eroded. Court One's $169,791 bid calls for them to pulverize the existing asphalt, which will be blended with the compact stone base. In addition, the retaining wall will be rebuilt, and 230 feet of drainage pipe will be installed to help with water removal and thus remedy a cause of erosion for the existing court surface. All that work will be completed this year. The final court color surface and line painting will be completed next spring, the earliest Court One can complete that task.
After years of living with the cracked, deteriorated surface, the board is confident the new courts will draw more pickleball and tennis players to enjoy this extraordinary amenity.
A detailed copy of Court One's proposal will be available soon as an appendix to the July 28 board minutes when they are posted on our website.
