A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents, Alumni, and Friends of Delone Catholic High School,

f you follow Delone Catholic on social media, you know that we are celebrating Catholic Schools Week. We have much to be grateful for at Delone Catholic. The legacy of Catholic schools in this country (and Delone Catholic since 1940) is one of joyful sacrifice in service of building up the next generation of saints.

We see this especially in the generations of women religious who selflessly staffed and taught in this School; in the dedication of my priest-predecessors; and today, in the devoted work of laypeople, many of them graduates, who desire to secure the best for the School. Lastly, our talented faculty, who could have chosen to devote their professional lives elsewhere for greater compensation, daily bear witness of joyful sacrifice.

During this month dedicated to Black History, we also celebrate with gratitude the outstanding examples of holiness provided by Catholics of color. They include St. Josephine Bakhita, whose feast day falls this month, St. Charles Llwanga and his companions, Venerable Augustus Tolton, and Servant of God Thea Bowman; the list could go on. Be on the lookout for posts on our social media pages about their inspiring examples of holiness. And join us in grateful prayer for their witness and for the sacrifices of so many who have supported and continue to support Delone Catholic.

With every good wish,

William J. Lippe P’25, EdM

Spotlight on the PTO

Fulfilling the mission of Delone Catholic High School could never be accomplished by the paid staff alone. Instead, we rely on the generous gifts of many groups to sustain our efforts to prepare students to lead, serve, and live as disciples of Christ. One of those groups is the Delone Catholic PTO.

Each year, the PTO sponsors activities that include:

  • Back to School Night Ice Cream Social
  • Used Uniform Sale
  • Christmas Raffle
  • Faculty Wish List
  • Faculty and Staff Appreciation Raffles
  • Academic Banquet
  • Senior Breakfast
  • Yearbook Ad Contest
  • End-of-Year Faculty/Staff Luncheon

This year, the PTO is led by President Heather Hillson P'19, P'22, Vice President Angie Hughes P'22, P'24, Treasurer Mary Kate Catlin P'21, P'23, and Secretary Lori Lawrence '89, P'20, P'24. They would like to thank EVERYONE for participating in the annual Christmas Raffle. Through your support over the years, the PTO has been able to purchase for the school a new kiln, water filling stations, robots, a microphone system, new art tables, and much more. Currently, the PTO is working on making the lobby a more friendly and welcoming space for students and visitors.

The PTO usually meets on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Library, but check the PlusPortals calendar for the latest details. All parents are welcome to attend!

In the U.S.,16,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year – that’s two classrooms of kids every day. Dollars raised by Delone Catholic High School Mini-THON® 2022 support some of the latest breakthroughs in childhood cancer research and ensure that every Four Diamonds child, regardless of income, receives the highest quality of childhood cancer care without ever seeing a bill for that care.

VIRTUE=STRENGTH

Love For Neighbor

This month, in which most of the country is centered on celebrating Valentine’s Day, our virtues all stem from the virtue of LOVE FOR NEIGHBOR - also known as charity, this gives us the strength to love God above all things for his own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God. This week, simply make the extra effort to do something charitable for someone. Even small things done with great love make a difference! As a family this month, make a resolution to light a candle at your parish before or after Mass to pray for one of your neighbors most in need.
