Sugarplum Festival returns for 2021

After being cancelled last year due to the ongoing pandemic, visitors will once again be able to ring in the holiday season with a festive and safe event November 11-13, 2021. Featuring over 30 local businesses including artisans, craftspeople, and local entrepreneurs, the Sugarplum Festival at Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art highlights local goods, handcrafted gifts, and specially selected items in a boutique holiday fair setting.
Experience the Holidays Downtown

You're invited to bring your friends and family downtown to experience all the fun activities, great places to eat, and unique shops with specialty gift options for everyone on your list. There will be activities and special events every Saturday beginning with the “Lighting Ceremony” with fireworks and live music to be held on Saturday, November 27th at Coleman Hawkins Park in Felix Street Square.
Holiday Park & South Pole Lighting Ceremonies take place day after Thanksgiving.

At 6:00 PM on November 26, join St. Joseph Parks and Recreation for an evening of awe and wonder as the Mayor flips the switch to transform Krug Park into Holiday Park for the 51st year! At 7:00 PM, our mayor will slip the switch to transform Hyde Park into the beautifully illuminated South Pole! Both parks are lit until January 1st. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served at Holiday Park.
We had the distinct pleasure of conversing with State Representative Richard Brown this month, who is also a member of the Missouri Tourism Commission. We are so glad he came to both our Visitor Center and our Executive office to learn about St. Joseph.

He was taken with St. Joseph and how much there is to do and said he would definitely be back. We can't wait to welcome him again. Representative Brown, thank you for visiting.

In Summer, settlers arrive on the prairie.
They are full of excitement and hope, ready for exploration and new beginnings. They seek a fresh start in a new home. In Autumn, settlers come of age, either in love or in grief. Three sisters living on a homestead come to terms with loss and learn to endure through simple acts of caretaking. Passing through the scene are three pairs of ‘lovers:’ a parent and child, a young couple in love, and a pair of friends, demonstrating all the ways we can love each other and lift each other up. In Winter, cowhands make many comical attempts to corral their horses in a blizzard, exemplifying teamwork, perseverance, and respect for animals and the elements. In Spring, all the cast returns for a celebration of renewal, progress, and entering the future. You’re entire family will love this original and amazing ballet and musical performance!
