The Third Sunday in Lent
|
|
“Walk for Water” on Saturday, March 30:
Join Our Team and Give the Water of Life
by Sam Robinson, World Missions Committee
|
|
“Come. Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” ––
Revelation 22:17
|
|
Since 2005, through the generosity of Christian individuals, churches, and corporations, Water Mission has made possible the “free gift” of clean drinking water to disadvantaged people around the world. You and I know that this gift is not free, for it requires a commitment of generous people who have a heart to bring Jesus Christ’s message, the “free gift of living water,” to the world. Both the “water of life” and clean drinking water are transformational for those who receive this gift, offering physical refreshment, healing, and the message of a spiritual path to everlasting life.
At 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30,
you will have the opportunity once again to participate in the Walk for Water at Riverfront Park in North Charleston
(1061 Everglades Ave.), to give not only the gift of clean water, but also the message of the “water of life” of Jesus Christ. Join the St. Philip’s Church Team clicking the link below or by contacting Dorothy Lancaster (
doroathome@yahoo.com or 843-425-3590).
Please answer the call.

|

The St. Philip’s Tea Room will be here before you know it, and we need your help
making our famous okra soup! Aluminum containers with covers are available at the church office, and we are accepting soup now through opening day. Please follow the recipe below.
Note: Before delivering the soup to the church,
please freeze it in an aluminum pan provided by the church. One pan can hold one batch of soup. To arrange drop-off at the Parish Hall freezer, please call Ben Singleton, Sexton, at (843) 475-9765 during church office hours (Monday–Thursday, 8:30–4:30, and Friday, 8:30-1:00). Many thanks! Okra Soup is a favorite at our Tea Room and we appreciate your help in making it.

The St. Philip’s Choir Says “Thank You”
With a Reception for the Parish
by Patricia M. Gould, Organist/Choirmaster
|
|
On Sunday, March 17, the St. Philip’s Choir hosted a beautiful
and delicious reception in the Parish Hall. Parishioners enjoyed beef tenderloin, bacon-wrapped quail, tortellini, deviled eggs, tea sandwiches, canapés, fruit, veggies, scrumptious desserts, and so much more.
Jean Carlton, a soprano, used her culinary magic to provide much of the food. Bill Warlick, a tenor, created the amazing floral centerpiece. At one time, 13 choir members were busily working in the kitchen. Still more came to help clean up. Several, including Cassie Nagel (soprano), Janice Grant (soprano), and Jean, never made it to church––they worked the entire time.

Children Are a Gift of the Lord!
by Tammy Gottshalk, World Missions Committee
|
|
In the past few months, God has been blessing LAMB with the most precious of gifts: more children at our children’s home! Already home to over 50 children, God’s Littlest Lambs Children’s Home in Honduras has seen a sudden increase in the number of children we have been asked to provide care for. Most of these new little ones are babies! Since December, God has brought several beautiful children to LAMB. Each one has a story. Each one is received with great love. Each one is precious to Jesus.
Luis Adrian came to us as a newborn. Because of a thyroid condition, he is sick a lot and has been in the hospital. In the picture at left, he is welcomed home from his hospital stay.
Ester is a beauty––just like her Biblical namesake. Ester is 4 years old, and was living on the street with her mom before she came to LAMB.
Angel David was wrapped in a blanket and discarded in a toilet by his teenaged mom who could see no other way forward. A neighbor heard the baby crying and he was miraculously saved, thanks be to God! He came to us at 12 days old.

New Prayer Study Begins April 2
Tuesdays at noon in the Parlor
|
|
Join Marnie Kerrison for a study of
Forgotten Power: A Simple Theology for a Praying Church by David Butts. This seven-week class will go through the material in the book as well as spend time in prayer.
From the back cover of
Forgotten Power: “No one argues against prayer, but few churches utilize prayer as a power source. Yet in the Scriptures and in the early church, prayer was the primary method used to tap into the power of the Holy Spirit. So why don’t we use it much?
Forgotten Power clearly challenges the main reason that churches do not pray––people do not understand the ‘whys’ of prayer.” To join the class, call Marnie at 843-475-4225 or click below to email her.
