Waiting, Listening, and Hearing:
Searching for My Spiritual Gifts
by Debra Izard
|
|
My husband and I attended the Spiritual Gifts workshop taught by Frenchie Richards, Brian McGreevy, and Andrew O’Dell in January. The idea of actually having a spiritual gift was an intriguing concept to me. In the class, we were taught that every Christian has at least one gift.
What is mine? Through the class, which is designed to assist in identifying spiritual gifts, I have been considering the possibility that prayer, faith, or healing might be areas of my gift. I have followed up by attending Frenchie’s four-week prayer study to learn and practice more prayer. Another outstanding resource.
I recently talked to a Christian friend about my search for my spiritual gift. She exclaimed right off that one of my gifts was encouragement. WOW! Encouragement had never even made it on my list of possibilities. I am praying that God will reveal my spiritual gift to enable me to serve His kingdom. It is our cultural expectation that God will “text” back right away with the “God’s will” answer.

New Wineskins Conference in September!
by Susan Keller, World Missions Committee
|
|
The St. Philip’s World Missions Committee is excited to invite everyone to the New Wineskins Conference this year. It is held every three years at Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC, and this year it will be from September 26–29. I have attended this conference three times, and my walk with Christ has been greatly impacted by learning about what the Lord is doing in the world today and how I can join Him in His love for the nations. This is a truly tremendous conference, and we hope that many from St. Philip’s will hear the call to go.
From newwineskinsconference.org:
The New Wineskins Conference is the largest Anglican missions conference in North America and serves as a homecoming for missionaries serving on the field and an equipping experience for laity and clergy alike from parishes around the US and abroad. With programs for children, youth and adult of every age, organizers anticipate over 1,500 attendees from around the world to come to the conference to worship, learn, reconnect, and pray together.
For 25 years, the New Wineskins Global Mission Conference has drawn attendees from more than 50 countries. The event features four days full of plenary sessions, networking opportunities, Mission Awareness Presentations (MAP Talks), and prayer and worship services. Participants come to hear what God is doing around the world, to be equipped for mission through teaching and instruction, and to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. With this year’s theme of Better Together, the conference will celebrate partnership and collaboration. All of this takes place on the campus of Ridgecrest Conference Center with the beautiful backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Join the St. Philip's Church Team!
Saturday, March 30, at 9:00 a.m. ~ Riverfront Park, North Charleston
|
|
Our team is coming together to make a difference. Will you join us?
Every day millions of people have to walk miles and miles just for water. Most of the time, the water they can find is contaminated and makes them sick. We are excited because Water Mission is changing lives, one community at a time, through their sustainable safe water solutions.
Each dollar raised by the Walk for Water is going to make an impact through a safe water community development project! We hope you’ll consider supporting the St. Philip’s Church team by making a donation or registering to walk with us. Questions? Call Dorothy Lancaster at (843) 425-3590 or click below to email her.

Palmer Lancaster (left) and Josiah Miller participated in theWalk for Water last year with the St. Philip’s Church team. Both plan to walk again this year. Will you join them?

Disaster Preparedness Meeting:
Storm Busters Needed!
Wednesday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel
|
|
Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
|
|
Hurricane season is approaching and with it the possibility of mayhem and destruction. St. Philip’s, along with other parishes in our diocese, would like to form a rapid response team (men and women) with hearts, hands, and feet that would be willing and able to respond to the destruction and those suffering. Being organized with planning, coordination, training, and equipping
now improves our parish’s ability to be ready and able to respond promptly with assistance in various situations.
Stephen Haynsworth, the Diocese of South Carolina Disaster Preparedness and Relief Coordinator, will speak with us Wednesday, March 13th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel (following our 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays Alive! service and supper). Please join us!
