Does Your Star Rating Expire Before April 2023?
Take Action!

Great Start to Quality is launching a revised model in February 2023. If your program’s rating expires between September 2022 and April 2023, you may want to take action now!
Submit an Application by August 12 if you would like to earn a published rating up to a 5 Star.
Submit an Application by September 30 if you would like to earn a published rating up to a 3 Star.
System Block Out

Due to the transition in February, programs will not be able to access the process for rating between December 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023. This is why the deadlines for submission are in place to be sure staff have enough time to process rating information before the shutdown.

If you have any questions about your expiration date or when you should submit information, check out the timeline or contact your local Great Start to Quality Resource Center at 1-877-614-7328 or greatstarttoquality@ecic4kids.org.
A New Video on Improvements to Great Start to Quality

An overview of the revisions to Great Start to Quality was shared with providers in June. If you missed it, or want to review the information, a recording is now available on our website on the Quality Improvement Process page. This process launches in February 2023. Learn more about how your program can prepare for the transition.

Why does the Administrator/Director have to be Connected to the Classrooms Tab?

For the Administrator or Director qualifications to be pulled into the SAS Qualification Report used for the Self-Assessment Survey and validation, the Administrator/Director MUST be listed in the Classroom Tab in the program's Organization Profile in MiRegistry. If the person serving as the Administrator/Director is not listed in the Classroom Tab, credit will not be awarded for the Administrator/Director qualification indicator(s).
Do Family Child Care programs have to add an Administrator/Director to the Classrooms Tab?

Yes, all program types must have an Administrator/Director added to the Classrooms Tab. Family Child Care programs can add someone whose role is Administrator/Program, Director/Schoolage Site Supervisor, or Owner/Operator to the Administrator/Director section of the Classrooms Tab.
ICYMI: Prenatal to 5 Fiscal Strategies Child Care Provider Input Sessions
Child care providers: what does it actually cost to provide high-quality child care in Michigan? Join Prenatal to 5 Fiscal Strategies, Early Childhood Investment Corporation, and Think Babies Michigan for sessions throughout this month to share your experience as a provider delivering early care and education services. Sessions will inform work, called the Prenatal to Five Comprehensive Fiscal Analysis, which will help policymakers, advocates, and all stakeholders better understand the true cost of providing high-quality child care across Michigan.

Exciting News - MiRegistry and Michigan Virtual Connection is COMING SOON!
Michigan Virtual currently offers 62 MiRegistry approved courses covering both early childhood and school age content. 57 of the 62 courses offer State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH). Providers can search for approved training by accessing the Michigan Virtual course catalog (works like a training calendar): https://michiganvirtual.org/courses/professional/

The course catalog can be filtered to show only MiRegistry approved training by checking the MiRegistry box under Course Partner:
Filtering can also be done by content (Subject Area) and whether SCECHs are offered (Credit Type).
