Enrollment growth, record-high funding for research and helping more grads make smooth transitions into careers are just some of the successes counted by CUNY over the past year. The Chancellor laid it all out, along with plans moving forward, in his State of the University address yesterday. Here are some other highlights:

Ashley Morrison, Kingsborough ’16, is an athletic trainer at Hunter College and at Brooklyn Nets Entertainment, providing onsite care and other services to dance and entertainment teams during NBA games. She has a master’s in athletic training from Long Island University and is pursuing her doctorate in health science.

What does your day-to-day job look like?

“I handle the daily aspects of player health and safety. I prepare student-athletes for practices and games by giving them rehabilitation and specialized treatments. I also supervise all sporting activities and events to ensure they don’t get hurt and provide immediate care if they do get injured.”

Are there any current projects you’re working on?

“I just received my certification to become a CPR/AED (automated external defibrilator) instructor so my project is a huge class to get my coaches and admins certified in performing CPR/AED.”

What do you do for fun?

“I am also an athlete myself! I dance and powerlift.”
