Spotlight on Lana Gibson

Lana Gibson

By Lana Gibson Data Technician, CCR

I am from Clemmons, NC. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Sociology at UNC Charlotte. I have worked at Davidson-Davie for 5 years. I have a husband, Edward, and a son named Liam. I enjoy reading and binge watching my favorite shows. I love hanging out with my family.

  • Travel: I love to go to the beach. I would love to travel to Greece one day.
  • Podcast/Audiobooks: I like listening to Till Death do Us Part podcast. It is my favorite true crime podcast. I am listening to Iron Flame audiobook as well.

  • Food: I enjoy eating Italian foods and ice cream.
  • Shows: I recently started watching Gordon Ramsay cooking shows like Master Chef and Next Level Chef. They are fun to watch to me.
  • Dinner with someone, living or dead: If I could have dinner with anyone I would have dinner with Gordon Ramsay as long as he cooks our meal. I have wanted to eat at one of his restaurants and I believe he’s a good person.

There is a small syllabus template update for Spring 2025. Accessibility Services has a new student intake form, so the form name and link are updated for Spring.

The application for professional learning funds is open once more. Applications will be reviewed every other Thursday beginning 11/7/24 until the funds are spent. There is a limited amount of funding available, so large requests ($500 or more) will be considered on a partial funding basis.

By Gretchen Benton

In case you missed it, we have created a guide inspired by our last Moodle Monday workshop. The guide includes written and video steps to help you master Moodle Groups. It also includes ideas for how you could use groups in your class! Groups can be used to:

  • Organize your course: Create and manage groups to separate classes, teaching teams, or project-based learning teams.
  • Simplify grading: Filter your gradebook to focus on specific groups, saving you time and effort.
  • Enhance collaboration: Facilitate group discussions and assignments, fostering a more interactive learning environment.
  • Customize your course: Restrict access to specific activities or resources for particular groups, tailoring the experience for each learner.

Productivity Features in Google Docs

By Amy Holmes

I'm a Google Docs fan, so much so that I could abandon Word and never look back. I look forward to the seemingly random updates that appear in Google Docs because they tend to help my productivity.

My favorite features are "Pageless" and "Document Tabs." Check out my video demonstration of how to use both.
