Clients and friends:
It seems that not so long-ago newsletters were all the rage. Concise, quality, content packaged prettily for your reading pleasure – what’s not to love? Publishing used to be a one-way street; we wrote a newsletter and clients read it (or they didn’t) – but times have changed and in true SHG form we aim to change with them.
Social media has completely altered the way that we approach communication. As we embark on a new decade of long-term care, law, and leadership, we have made the decision to cease publication of the SHG Sentinel, this, our December 2019 issue, will be our final newsletter. We no longer want to impart information to you;
we want to exchange information with you
. We value your experiences, ideas, and insight. We want our communication with you to be a two-way street; we want your feedback, comments, and suggestions and we believe the best way to accomplish that is via our social media channels and
blog
. So please, join us, tell us what you think, or what you want to know. Comment on our posts and we promise to engage – we look forward to hearing from you.

JANUARY 15, 1:00 PM EST
In this session, you will learn the daring leadership skills and practices Dr. Brené Brown has so thoroughly researched and written about over the last 20 years. We will explore 3 main learning objectives that, when practiced, will have long lasting positive impacts in many areas of your work and life, including, the bottom line of your organization:
· You cannot get to Courage without rumbling with vulnerability.
· Self-awareness and self-love matter.
· Courage is contagious.
Start the year with courage!

MAKE OUR VISION FOR 2020 A REALITY
|
As 2019 winds down our sights are set on what’s over the horizon – and we have big plans for 2020. One of our endeavors will place our firm among the ranks of those in the legal industry who are working to improve the practice of law and empower women and minorities in the field. We are fiercely passionate about this vision, and we need your help to make it a reality.
SHG’s values, strategies, and practices support a diverse workplace that encourages collaboration and acknowledges the contributions of all employees. Over the past eight years, we have built a multigenerational, multiracial, multi-background, and national workforce that makes us extremely proud. We believe that the next logical step is to celebrate this dedication to diversity by becoming a member of
The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms
(NAMWOLF).
NAMWOLF is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association comprised of minority and women owned law firms and other interested parties throughout the United States. We strongly subscribe to their mission to promote diversity in the legal profession by fostering successful relationships among preeminent minority and women owned law firms and private/public entities. We are excited to become a part of this innovative organization –
but we need your help.
One of the criteria for NAMWOLF membership is a cumulative firm review on the
Martindale-Hubbell®
ratings
. Martindale-Hubbell is the gold standard in attorney ratings, recognizing lawyers for their strong legal ability and high ethical standards for more than a century.
Here’s where you come in:
if you believe in our work and have had positive experiences with our firm, you can help us make our vision a reality by reviewing an attorney with whom you have worked. We know that you lead full lives and we would be honored if you took a few moments out of your busy schedules to voice your support for SHG. You can do so by following

and clicking on the images to review the attorney of your choosing. We appreciate you and we look forward to all that 2020 has in store!

INTRODUCING OUR 2020 VISIONARY SERIES
|
|
Rather than solely relying on legal intervention to solve problems, we aim to provide education about common issues facing the long-term and post-acute care industries. Our vision is to empower you to take charge of the challenges that you face so that you can spend your time providing high-quality care for the residents that you serve.
We are excited to announce our
2020 Visionary Series
. In the upcoming year we will continue our practice of offering a free educational webinar to current and prospective clients each month. We have taken your suggestions into account and have come up with a schedule of topics that relate directly to the day-to-day issues you face. Check out our schedule below and mark your calendars - you don't want to miss these valuable experiences!
In 2019, our webinars had over four-hundred attendees from 21 states and the District of Columbia. We hope to see even more national participation in the year ahead.
