Hello Julie,

The world is more than two years into its new normal. So, let’s call this new normal what it really is: constant disruption.

There’s only one appropriate response to constant disruption and that’s continuous adaptation. I’m proud of how our agency team and client partners have adapted. As individuals and organizations, it’s essential to embrace our own metamorphoses to continue thriving in 2022 and beyond. Our team even took time for a first-ever strategic offsite to build our own resilience. See below for more.

In this issue, we’re also sharing a few examples of client partners we’ve helped to navigate disruption and thrive. We hope you find a few ideas below to help your brand.

Cheers,

Julie Wright

NEW FACES

WOC WELCOMES NEW TEAM MEMBERS

WOC_Newsletter_Terry_David_Brad.jpg

It takes a village to stay a step ahead of constant change, and we’re all delighted to have three new colleagues on the journey with us.

Terry Whitaker joins (W)right On as Associate Vice President overseeing the lifestyle group. Terry is drawing on his 18 years of experience in public relations to continue growing our hospitality, tourism, senior living, wellness and education practice areas. Most recently, Terry was based in Australia where he held several leadership positions in PR agencies, including his own, and formerly managed the creation and execution of the Australian Baseball League's national marketing communications strategy, providing strategic support to the league’s six clubs and promoting Major League Baseball (MLB) initiatives in the Oceania region.

David Cumpston has started with WOC as Director, B2B & Tech. David brings more than 20 years of communication experience to (W)right On, most recently as Associate Vice President at one of the largest PR agencies in the country. Spending most of his career in the Bay Area, he has developed and managed strategic communications for numerous prominent brands including JP Morgan Chase, Aramark, SEGA, UCSF Medical Center, Stanford Children’s Hospital, Best Western, Walmart and Velodyne Lidar. With expertise in consumer and B2B public relations from automotive, land development and high tech to healthcare, social justice and crisis communications, David is an asset on WOC’s B2B team and client partners. He is a two-time winner of Bulldog Media’s Best Response to Breaking News Award and earned a bachelor degree in Mass Communication & Public Relations from Texas State University.

(W)right On’s newest Communications Coordinator is San Diego’s own Brad DeClouet who has just completed his Masters in Mass Communications degree with honors from the University of Florida with a specialization in public relation and certificate in social media. Brad will draw from his luxury hospitality experience being a VIP Coordinator at JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa. He is also poised to bring unique insights to Wright On’s real estate and land development practice with his background as a realtor in the San Diego market. Brad will be supporting our lifestyle practice by providing research, media outreach, and copywriting!

WOC ADVENTURE

TEAM BUILDING AND GROWTH IN BORREGO SPRINGS

20220325_082805.jpg

The WOC team gathered at La Casa del Zorro in Borrego Springs for two days in March. We spent the time together exploring big ideas and the beauty of Anza Borrego Desert State Park.

Yoga, hiking, eating, laughing, sharing and digging into our strengths and individual opportunities for growth — it was a big but manageable and fun agenda.

All of us came away feeling recharged and better prepared for whatever disruption comes our way next!

GOING GLOBAL

WOC GETS GLOBAL READY

Global Readiness.png

As part of (W)right On’s ongoing campaign for world domination, we have been selected to participate in the University of San Diego’s Global Readiness Program. The program aims to help companies expand their presence into international markets by providing consultation on the details of import-export affairs.

PARTNERING

SPEAKING UP FOR OUR CLIENT PARTNER

Communications Strategist Corie Fiebiger and President Julie Wright stopped by SDG&E’s Kearny Mesa headquarters to tape a video testimonial about the agency’s long relationship with San Diego’s local utility.

(W)right On Communications has worked with SDG&E every year since 2009, and we’re proud of our industry knowledge, strong client relationships and the great outcomes we’ve achieved together despite the upheaval facing energy utilities as they transition to low-carbon models.
