Several of The Foundation Schools' students were selected as recipients of the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF) Michael Cardin Scholarship, honoring their exceptional perseverance, personal growth, and strong commitment to achieving their academic, personal, and transition goals.

Each student will now have the opportunity to participate in a summer program that reflects their unique interests and aspirations, providing enriching experiences that will support their continued learning and personal development.

Staff, students, and families participated in our annual promotion event as we celebrated the successes of our 8th grade students. Tears flowed as we shared in the joy and pride in this accomplishment that represents students’ perseverance and tenacity.

We are incredibly proud of our 8th grade students and all they have achieved, and we look forward to watching them continue to grow, learn, and shine as they begin their high school journey! 

This year, several of our students participated in a cooking course at Prince George's Community College. Through this hands-on learning experience, students explored the fundamentals of cooking while developing valuable life and career skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Throughout the course, students learned kitchen safety, proper food handling and sanitation, basic knife skills, meal preparation techniques, and how to prepare healthy, nutritious meals.

To prepare our high school students for success after school, our team worked diligently to create engaging skills development opportunities and connections with vendors to equip students with marketable qualifications.

• Students opened a student-run Cafe, complete with applications, interviews, and feedback opportunities
• Five students earned CPR Certifications
• 15 students received Food Safety Certifications
• 17 students were connected with employment support agencies

Our Foundation Links staff hosted special events designed to support our families and encourage parent involvement. Through open conversations and meaningful discussions, parents were able to build relationships, share support, and access valuable resources.

Our “Sip & Paint” event allowed students and their families to participate in an afternoon of creativity, laughter, and bonding. Click the video to see how the event went!

During the second week of April, staff and students received an incubator and a chick crate for students to observe the process of a chick’s journey from egg to hatchling. On April 28th, students and staff watched as the chicks began to hatch, gently cracking open their shells and slowly emerging.



Students then spent a couple of weeks interacting with the chicks before they returned home to their farms! These “living laboratories” offered the students an opportunity to learn about life cycles, animal needs, and responsible care.
