Where Compassion Meets Care | | Summer is in full swing, and with it comes warmth, wagging tails, and renewed gratitude for the bond between pets and their people. At Pets In Need, we see every day just how strong the bond between pets and people can be. Their love and companionship offer comfort and stability, especially to families facing financial hardship. This summer, we’re doubling down on our mission to keep pets healthy and with the people who love them most. | | | Meow's the Time - Join Our Veterinary Team | | | | |
At Pets In Need, we believe no pet should lose their home or their life because their family can’t afford veterinary care. As the need for our services continues to grow, so does our waitlist. We’re looking for veterinarian(s) who will share their time for compensation or time can be donated. Whether it’s a few hours, a half day, or a few days a month come help us meet this critical demand.
You’ll join a compassionate, mission-driven team led by Dr. Colleen Black, who has spent nearly a decade ensuring pets stay healthy and families stay together. Our clinic operates Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM, and we offer a collaborative environment focused on impact and quality.
If you're a veterinarian looking to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you. To learn more, visit our careers page or email us at info@pincincinnati.org.
| | Paw-sitive Spirits: Lucy’s Road to Recovery | | |
Ten-year-old Lucy has grown up side-by-side with her "two sisters", sharing in life’s ups and downs as the third girl. When Lucy developed a painful issue in her eye, her family was heartbroken. While attending a local pop-up vaccine clinic, her mom asked their staff about it and was advised to seek further medical care. Determined to help Lucy, her mom started thinking about what she could sell to cover the cost of a veterinary visit or subsequent treatments.
That concern led them to Pets In Need, where our team confirmed that Lucy’s eye condition was serious and needed to be removed. Thankfully, we were able to remove the eye and provide donated medications to support her recovery. Her family says the difference was immediate. Lucy was comfortable again, and her playful personality quickly returned.
“We’re beyond thankful,” her mom shared. “She’s in the best spirits now.”
Lucy continues to thrive, bringing joy and love to the family she’s been a part of for a decade.

| Leashing Together for a Stronger Community | | | | |
This summer, we have been busy spending time with incredible partner organizations like Found House Interfaith Housing Network and YWCA Greater Cincinnati who, like us, believe in the powerful bond between people and their pets. Whether it’s supporting pet owners facing housing instability or creating safe, welcoming spaces for families and their pets, these partnerships allow us to meet people where they are and provide care where it’s needed most.
We are grateful to be a part of a growing network of mission-driven organizations/opportunities that work to build a more compassionate, connected Cincinnati. As we continue to show up for pets and people, we look forward to developing even more partnerships that expand access to veterinary care and keep pets with the families who love them.

We’re thrilled to be working with Channel 12 and their Cincinnati Refined show to bring the Pets In Need mission to a broader audience. Over the past several weeks, and continuing through September, we’ve been filming a special interview series featuring our veterinarians, staff, board members, clients, and community partners.
These segments shine a light on the real impact of our work and the vital role donors, grantors and other supporters play in keeping pets healthy and families together. Each interview tells a unique part of the story, showing just how much every dollar truly makes a difference.
The interviews will air on Cincinnati Refined (Saturdays at 7:30pm, Channel 12). Our next segment airs on August 16th. All segments are added to our website shortly after each episode goes airs. We’re excited to share these stories with you and the wider community in the hopes they inspire even more support for the work we do every day.

This summer, we've been honored with two meaningful acknowledgments that reflect both the impact of our work and the trust of our community partners.
We are grateful to have received a generous grant from the Joanie Bernard Foundation, which will help us better serve our feline population who are often medically underserved. This funding will allow us to expand our reach and ensure more cats receive the care they need.
In addition, we are proud to share that we have been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Animal Welfare Award from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. This recognition celebrates the tireless work of our staff, volunteers, and supporters in advancing animal well-being throughout our region.
We are deeply thankful for both the support and the recognition. Click the logos to read the press releases and learn more about these organizations and the important work they make possible!
