The Sun Run: La Primera is this weekend!

Sun Run 5k, 10k, and FitKidz Participants!

Thank you for signing up for the Sun Run 5k, 10k, and FitKidz Mile. This is the kickoff event for the 2022 SAR Running Shop Grand Prix and a great way to start the year. Not only that, but the 5k and 10k are USATF Certified courses, eligible for age group records AND are lightning fast!!

 

All net proceeds from the race will go to the Miles for Meals program, benefitting the Tucson Community Food Bank!

Saturday Pre-Registration Packet Pick-Up

The Running Shop at 3055 North Campbell from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 15th (!


Please bring a mask and be prepared for a little bit of a line in order to keep everyone safe. Also make sure to check out the latest and greatest gear that our friends at The Running Shop have to offer.

Race Day Details

 

Sunday, January 16th, 2022 in Reid Park behind Hi Corbett Stadium at 700 South Randolph Way


Parking: Please park on the East side of Hi Corbett Stadium and walk around the back to the start and finish line on the West side. 


6:45 to 7:45 AM:  Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration. Registration will close promptly at 7:45. All FitKidz registration must be completed BEFORE RACE DAY.


7:55 AM:  Race Instructions at the Starting Line. The 5k is one loop around the park. The 10k is a large loop followed by a smaller loop. Course maps will be provided at the Registration table on race morning

  8:00 AM: 5k Start at the Red Arch

  8:05 AM: 10k Start at the Red Arch

  8:50 AM: FitKidz Mile at the Red Arch


9:00 AM:  Awards Ceremony for all races and The Running Shop 2021 Grand Prix!



Special Note Regarding the Course

Course Caution: PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE NEED TO RUN UP ON THE SIDEWALK AT THE INTERSECTION OF COUNTRY CLUB AND BROADWAY.  There are road construction closures that prevent us from using the road for the short stretch of the course.


COVID-19 Protocol, Water, Snacks & Volunteering

As with all SAR races, we strongly recommend that participants bring and wear a mask when physical distancing of 6 feet or more cannot be maintained.


Snacks and drinks will be provided. For COVID-19 Safety, please consider bringing your own water. Two water stops will be available on the course. You must grab your own cup!
