MAKE US YOUR GUIDE TO SUMMER

FAIR SEASON IS HERE.

LET'S MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

August in Schoharie County means fair food, grandstand concerts, and the kind of summer tradition that feels the same every year in the best possible way. Cap it off with Family Farm Day opening the gates to farms across three counties and the valley has the whole month covered. Farm stands overflowing and unforgettable places to stay fill in everything in between.

The only thing left to do is show up.

FAIR WARNING: THIS LOOKS REALLY GOOD

Rides, livestock, fair food, and the kind of week that feels like summer at its most unapologetic. One admission gets you everything, including Joe Nichols on the grandstand. The Schoharie County Sunshine Fair guide has every detail worth knowing before you go. One stop, all the planning done.

DOMES, TIPIS, AND ALPACAS. YOU IN?

A dome on a regenerative farm. A tipi next to actual bison. Alpacas outside the window in a lavender patch. Schoharie County has the kind of places to stay that make people cancel their original plans and book an extra night. If the end of summer needs a proper send off, this is where to start.

THIS IS WHAT SUMMER TASTES LIKE

Corn, tomatoes, blueberries, and something new coming into season every week. Fresh cut flowers and farm fresh produce at every turn. Schoharie County farm stands are at their summer best right now and the map has every stop worth making. There has never been a better time to buy local.

LET'S DO STUFF

FRI 08/07

Live zydeco, dancing, artisan vendors, food, and beer at the Iroquois Museum. The seventh annual Roots, Rhythm, and Ale is a summer evening worth clearing the calendar for.

SAT 08/08

Frogs, insects, owls, and the kind of quiet that makes every sound worth stopping for. Nature After Dark at Landis Arboretum has nature educator George Steele leading the way through forests and fields after dark.

WED 08/12

Joe Nichols is bringing his catalog of country classics to the Sunshine Fair grandstand and it is free with Fair admission. Reserved seating available if planning ahead is more your style.

SAT 08/15

Adoptable dogs, wine slushies, food trucks, and a cause worth showing up for. Dog Days of Summer at Middleburgh Winery is exactly the kind of afternoon Schoharie County does best.

SUN 08/28

Family Farm Day opens the gates to farms across three counties on August 29th. Plan your route, meet the farmers, and bring a cooler. You will need it.

BEFORE YOU GO

Some places are better understood when you hear from the people who actually live them.

There is something different about hearing a story straight from the source. The Schoharie County audio stories put the farmers, historians, naturalists, brewers, and makers front and center, telling their stories in their own words. No narration, no filter. Just the real Schoharie County.

Find your series, press play, and let Schoharie County do the rest.
