Shalom,
Last month the Supreme Court struck down the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act,
a Louisiana
pro-life law
that could have saved unborn babies and protected pregnant women. This unjust ruling from the High Court means that abortionists will not be required to have hospital admitting privileges near their clinics. This is bad news for pregnant women who suffer complications and become victims of unscrupulous abortionists, many of whom are incompetent and have been sued after committing botched abortions.
Chief Justice John Roberts is turning out to be a huge disappointment. His decision to move left on a number of social issues is reminiscent of former Justice Anthony Kennedy and not the Constitutional conservative we expected. Referencing "stare decisis" in the Hellerstedt ruling, the Chief Justice sided with the liberals on the Court.
In her
article
on the decision, Assistant Editor
Kylee Zempel
at The Federalist, put it bluntly:
“John Roberts’ Leftist Activism Was a Big ‘Screw You’ to Women.”
Ms. Zempel writes:
Thanks to the Supreme Court’s gross judicial activism this week, the man performing your abortion can offer you a lousy standard of care that leaves you as vulnerable as the body he crushes inside you.
A press release published by
Pro-Life Louisiana
explains the importance of
The Unsafe Abortion Protection Act
, which was invalidated by the Supreme Court:
Currently, Louisiana law requires surgeons in outpatient surgical centers to have admitting privileges at local hospitals so that the physician can admit and treat a patient if an emergency arises. Louisiana 2014 Act 620 simply requires the functional equivalent standard for surgical abortion providers. There should be no abortion loopholes when it comes to the standard of care.
This ruling is a betrayal of the women who obtain abortions, and not just in Louisiana. In my article,
The Supreme Court Failed Unborn Babies and Women,
I discuss the implications of the Supreme Court decision. It is not just happening in Louisiana. In Maryland, abortion "doctor" Leroy Carhart is still committing abortions and his clinic has not been shut down, despite his long documented history of violations.
Bill Clinton was the most pro-abortion president in history until Barack Obama. Back in the 1990s, it was Bill Clinton who, when speaking about abortion, coined the phrase "safe, legal and rare."
Killing babies is still legal. As for the rest? Obsolete.
For life,
Bonnie Chernin
