Richard: "If you’re looking for some evidence of the impact of the kind of LEGO SERIOUS PLAY workshops I run, I’m delighted to share the recent publication of a new academic research paper, which has just what you need.
This paper, written with Jonathan Passmore and David Tee, pitted LEGO SERIOUS PLAY team development workshops (using the Association of Master Trainers’ “Real Time Strategy for the Team” format) against more traditional facilitated team away-days in terms of their lasting impact on team cohesion and psychological safety.
From a methodology perspective, we believe this is the first Randomized Control Trial of team coaching with genuine organizational teams, using a comparable intervention control group.
From an LSP perspective, the results are very encouraging.
First, the LSP workshops produced significantly bigger positive impact in terms of psychological safety and team cohesion according to questionnaires filled in both immediately after the workshop and then – more importantly - again three months later.
In fact, while the scores from participants in the traditional sessions had fallen back to similar levels as before the sessions, those for the LSP participants for both team cohesion and psychological safety remained significantly higher.
Second, I have long seen the LSP ‘Real Time Strategy for the Team’ approach as a powerful form of team coaching, so I’m delighted that Prof Passmore is describing this way, too.
And third, as I designed and facilitated the LSP workshops, I’m delighted that the results were so positive and matched the feedback I regularly get from my clients.
