Volume 23 Issue 8

We recently enjoyed presentations by Mary Ann Wilson's guests, Major Samuel and Christine Kim - Central Virginia Area Commander for The Salvation Army. Are you familiar with playing a saw? We were amazed by the strength and beauty of Christine's voice and mesmerized by Samuel's talent with a saw!

Bright Beginnings Backpacks

The Rotary of Richmond raised $1500 to support the YMCA Bright Beginnings Program. 50 children this year received brand new, backpacks overflowing with colored pencils, crayons, glue sticks and more!

Thank you to all of our members who came out to stuff the packs to bring a smile to a child's face today as well as Jeanne Walls for her hospitality and leadership!

Doggie Paddle Update from Paul Neumann

On May 23rd our speaker, Veteran Jimmy Thomas, received a generous donation from our club's Rotary Charities Fund to support Doggie Paddle, which provides Veterans in need with service dogs.

In late July, Marshall Orr and Paul Neumann attended a Rotary meeting with Jimmy at his home club located in Upstate New York - The Rotary Club of Glenville. While there, they met Casper, a beautiful black lab, fostered by Doggie Paddle for his role as a service dog.

Yesterday Doggie Paddle traveled 275 miles to Buffalo where Veteran Ken was presented with his new best friend - service dog Casper. Please see attached photo and FB post which details this special moment. Also, please know that your contributions are being managed in ways which serve those need.
