Our school has been blessed with funding from the state for our commitment to remain open during the recent pandemic and for our continuing service through some very challenging times. These funds have been carefully allocated with the guidance of our Board and our finance and investment committees.
These funds have benefited our staff with small raises and bonuses, our facilities with some much needed improvements, and have allowed us to have a “growth mindset” as we move forward into a very promising future.
Now it’s time for these funds to benefit each of you more directly in what we hope is a very meaningful way! We recognize the growing costs of daily living, and we know many additional costs are associated with the coming Christmas season. With this in mind, Playday is waiving ALL TUITION for the month of December. Every child will attend Playday free of charge for December 2022!
This is truly a wonderful, unique, one-time opportunity for us to thank you for your patronage. Regular tuition will resume in January 2023.
THANK YOU for allowing us to partner with you in the early education of your child. We truly hold that as precious and are committed to continuing our partnership for years to come. It’s a great privilege to be a part of this preschool family!
We are so excited to announce that our Outdoor Classroom is FINALLY open!! Classes will enjoy this outdoor extension of our center where we can garden, play in the sand, enjoy weaving and painting outside, and work on sensory paths! This has been a long process, but the space is approved and we are ready to PLAY!

We are thrilled to partner once again with Send Hope in Honduras! This is a very special ministry that focuses on the needs of children who live on the Moskito coast in Honduras. Please see below for information from Marilyn Tucker, a former Playday staff member, a current Playday grandparent, and a missionary supporter of this wonderful ministry. If you are able, please consider filling a bag and returning it to the school by Thursday, December 15th. Thanks in advance for your support!
My name is Marilyn Tucker and I am a member of FUMC Allen. I am involved with Send Hope, our church’s mission in Honduras. Send Hope is a nonprofit organization that serves children on the Moskito coast of Honduras. The mission includes a home for malnourished, handicapped and abused children. We call the home House of Hope. Along with the home, we have a school where children can come to get an education and two meals a day. We try each Christmas to fill a bag full of items that the children could use and enjoy. My family and I have been to the House of Hope many times and have seen the need of the children of La Moskito. May God bless you in this special time of the year. If you have any questions please call me at 214-734-4675 or email me at mmtucker@sbcglobal.net.

How to talk to your child about school drills.
Written from a parent and therapist perspective
1. Children have lots of questions
Practice curiosity with your child with open ended questions. Clarify emotions- what made you feel scared? Was there anything that made it better? Inquire about what things at school help keep them safe (front door locked, teachers backpack with a safety kit, a friend). Answer questions as openly and age appropriate as possible.
2. Reinforce safety
Share with your child that Playday is a place where children are safe and that the grownups job is to keep them safe. This is a great time to reinforce that their teacher loves them very much and is a safe person. It is important that children know that we may never need to use the emergency skills that they practiced, but if we do need to, we have all practiced them and they know how they work.
3. Monitor your emotions
Anytime we have difficult conversations with children we have to monitor our response. We want to emotionally validate them while also not projecting our fears onto their experience. For example as a parent the idea of a drill for my child brings up many anxious emotions for me but that wasn't his experience and I don't want to project my experience onto his. Be aware of your reactions and words. If needed, process with another adult after the conversation.
 4. Reinforce the concept of practice
Remind your child that drills at school are all about practice. Use this conversation to reinforce that listening to their teachers and doing what they ask quickly is important because it keeps them safe in many situations.
We are outside every day that the weather is nice... which is a lot!! Please keep this in mind when you are choosing shoes for your child. We request athletic shoes or close-toed shoes be worn at school.

Rain boots are super nice for puddles... but not so great for running in the gym! If you send your child in rain boots, please make sure they also have a pair of sneakers for our large motor times. Thanks so much!

Board Member Spotlight
Hello! My name is Jenna Cash and I’m thrilled to serve on the Children’s Creative Playday Board. My husband Dustin and I live in Allen, and are members of a different local United Methodist Church. Our 3 year old twins Kelsey and Cooper currently attend Playday and love it! I have been a general pediatrician in Allen for almost 11 years and love working with kids of all ages. I earned my bachelor’s degree from UNT and attended TCOM in Ft. Worth for medical school, then Penn State Children’s for residency. Our family is new to Playday this year and we have been blown away by all of the amazing kids, teachers and staff. I feel so excited about this opportunity to be more involved serving as a board member - 10/10 would recommend!

Please help us keep everyone safe by driving slowly while in our parking lot, especially during our carpool time. Share this information with all of your drivers. Thanks so much!
A Note About Nutrition
Well balanced meals provide the food children need to grow, think, fight infection and fuel their bodies. Are you needing ideas for nutritious lunch choices for your child? Check out sample menus, information on food allergies, and choking hazards at www.fns.usda.gov/tn/myplate.
We have several severe nut allergies in our building. If your child is in a nut-free classroom, please do not send any food containing nuts for lunch or snack. Thanks for helping us keep Playday a fun and safe place for every child!
