A Message from Rabbi Wexler

Just the other day, we began the new month of Adar. The Talmud teaches משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה - mishinikhnas adar marbin b'simha -when the month of Adar begins, our joy increases. Adar is a month of happiness and celebration, perhaps best marked by our celebration of Purim which is on the 14th of Adar (this year Purim is on Monday evening, March 6th and Tuesday, March 7th). We look forward to our Purim Rocks celebrations at TBS as we celebrate Purim together.


But Purim is not the only reason for joy and connection to Adar during this time of the year.  In this week’s Torah portion, Terumah, God commands Moses to build the Mishkan (Tabernacle), the portable sanctuary and dwelling place for God that the Israelites will carry with them during their years of wandering in the wilderness.

HIAS Donations


The Social Advocacy Committee has extended the deadline for HIAS donations to March 12, 2023. Please drop off your donations at synagogue office. The following items are still needed:

  • Pillows (new only)
  • Kitchen-sized trash can with lid (new only)
  • Full size sheets (new or gently used)
  • Smoke Detectors (new only)
  • Fire Extinguishers - small spray type (new only)
