Dear Parishioners and Friends,
This Sunday, our Faith Formation families will gather for religious education following the 11:00 am Mass. Then, preparation for our Confirmation Candidates will begin at 1:30 pm.
Also, this Sunday, at 6 pm, we are happy to announce the start of our new parish high school youth group! ALL HIGH SCHOOLERS are welcome to join this first meeting which will be weekly. In addition to our Youth Group gatherings, plans are underway to send youth to the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in the fall. Please contact Christine Bondi at the parish office if you have any questions.
The Youth Group will be meeting in the new Saint Kateri Center at the refurbished old convent building behind the Christ the King church. Parents of youth are also encouraged to stop by and see this newly renovated space. This building is now called the “SAINT KATERI CENTER.” We remain grateful to the Sisters of St. Joseph who once lived in this convent building and taught in our Catholic Schools. Many countless hours were volunteered by parishioners to make this building usable again after significant damage occurred from burst water pipes over three years ago.
Next weekend, we will have a special celebration of Catholic Schools at the 11:00 am Mass, followed by a coffee hour with donuts and snacks, school tours and additional school registration information for next fall for Saint Kateri School.
Finally, in the summer months, we will be installing a new steam boiler (already on order!) in St. Margaret Mary's church as well as doing much-needed roof repairs at that location. This will be an expensive, but necessary, project.
Giving to the Catholic Ministry Appeal (CMA) is, by far, the most significant and direct way these goals are accomplished. Not having to take reserve funds from the parish to make up a CMA shortfall goes a long way in taking care of the needs of our parish!
Information on how to give to the CMA can be found on page 6 of this bulletin.
There is also a giving link at the Diocese of Rochester website: www.Dor.org or one could use the CMA envelopes found at welcome desks placed at the entrance to our churches. We are fortunate to have a vibrant faith community that loves God, is generous, engaged and supportive of youth of all ages.
May God bless you and your family this Epiphany!
Fr. Gonyo
