"O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fast my lot. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.

Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices, my body, too, abides in confidence; because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld, nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption.  You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever."

Psalm 16

From Our Pastor

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Our second graders will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time after the 11am Mass this weekend.  Keep them and their parents in your prayers!  Congratulations!

We are still looking to complete census cards found in the pews or the welcome desks.  Everyone is asked to fill out a card (just your name if you have already filled out the census online) One card filled out per family/household is fine.  Our last census was 30 years ago!

Lots of upcoming Advent Special Events are posted for this week's bulletin.

The Bishops’ Committee for Religious Liberty is encouraging Catholics to take part in a Novena ahead of the feast of Christ the King which falls on November 24th.  The Novena can be found at:

https://www.usccb.org/Christ-the-King-2024-novena

Next week, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King and the conclusion of the church year.  There will be a coffee hour after the 11am Mass to

celebrate.

May God bless you!

A Message From Fr. Aaron

Liturgy of the Eucharist (Part I)

Last week, I wrote about the Liturgy of the Word, the part of the Mass in which we encounter Christ, the living Word of God, in the Scriptures proclaimed at Mass.

We now turn to the Liturgy of the Eucharist when we encounter Christ who becomes really present through the words of the priest and who we receive under the appearances of bread and wine, although it is really and truly

the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ.

The Second Vatican Council and subsequently the Catechism of the Catholic Church describes the Eucharist as the “source and summit” of the Christian life and so the Liturgy of the Eucharist is of great importance in the Mass (Lumen Gentium 11). The Liturgy of the Eucharist begins with the preparation of the altar and the offering of the gifts. It is important to remember that we do not just offer bread and wine to be sacrificed in the Eucharist, but we also offer ourselves – our worries and concerns, as well as our joys and hopes. We offer our lives to the Lord to be transformed, so that our lives can be

conformed to the mystery that we celebrate.

I encourage you to intentionally offer yourself and all your needs during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Bring him everything and allow the Lord to take it, bless it, and transform it, so that when you receive Holy Communion, you can receive back what you gave to the Lord, but transformed by his grace.

Next time, I will turn to the rest of the Eucharistic Prayer.

 Fr. Aaron, Parochial Vicar

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,

my memory, my understanding,

and my entire will,

All I have and call my own.

You have given all to me.

To you, Lord, I return it.

Everything is yours; do with it what you will.

Give me only your love and your grace,

that is enough for me.
