  • The Learning Network is a centralized hub for resources related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Little Warriors Prevent it! workshop educates and empowers adults to take action and help prevent and respond to child sexual abuse, offers individual, self paced or online workshops
  • Virtual Neighbours, Friends and Family - It's Not Right presentation on Elder Abuse awareness and prevention, Thursday, August 6 @1PM or @7PM, call Yellowhead County FCSS to register 1-800-814-3935

Emerging Themes:
  • Diverse (and conflicting?) responses to coping with COVID from holding pattern, acceptance and adapting, anger and resistance, and fear and isolation
  • Mask fatigue
  • COVID has pushed people who were managing previously over the edge (i.e., more people resigning to not being able to cope and taking the step to apply for disability assistance)
  • Continuing anxiety over relaunch, specifically with school system
  • Challenges with adapting traditional gatherings to COVID restrictions
  • Disconnect between adult and youth mental health approaches

Emerging Initiatives:
  • Victim Services now providing full services for serious crisis calls
  • RATS Community Art Project underway to create generational art project showing impact of COVID using recorded interviews and responsive art; contact Jason Gonziola
  • Ever Active Schools launched Explore your 2.4 to encourage all families to get out and explore what’s within 2.4km of their home or school
  • Community Compass posting community stories and events; send info to Natasha to share on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
  • Peer training program for youth; contact Angela
  • Rotary Run for Life, raising awareness of Suicide, is going virtual this year; register today to support this community run
  • Alberta government to receive $45 million for child care affordability, accessibility and development
