Enacting MLK's Vision in Our Everyday | |
|
Earlier this month, on Monday, January 15, people across the United States celebrated Martin Luther King Day. Many of us enjoyed a day off of school or work and were greeted on social media with feel-good quotes of love and hope.
But progress toward MLK's dream of racial justice does not come easily. It does not and will not happen without collaboration, hard work, and action.
| |
|
In this month's What's Up North blog, Adirondack Diversity Initiative Associate Director Melanie Reding explores the meaning of MLK's most famous quotes and how they can empower us to make positive change in our own communities and our daily lives.
Read more in her blog, "Quoting King: the Time is Always Right to Do What is Right."

ADI Director Addresses Voters for Change
“What’s important to remember is there is no cavalry coming to save us. It’s just us. We’re the ones. It’s not the next generation. It’s who is here now that will make a difference on what happens, what comes next. We have to take responsibility for our actions, understanding they will have repercussions, positive or negative. We need to decide what kind of legacy we want to leave." ~ Tiffany Rea-Fisher
On January 21, ADI Director Tiffany Rea-Fisher addressed attendees of an Adirondack Voters for Change meeting in Saranac Lake. Read about Tiffany's work and her approach to the arts, bridge building, and fostering diversity in the Adirondack North Country.
