Empowering students with autism to achieve their greatest potential in all aspects of their lives.

June, 2025

Dear Friends,

The school year may be winding down, but the energy at The Timothy School is still going strong! Our dedicated faculty and staff continue to bring their care and enthusiasm to the classroom, keeping students excited and engaged right up until the last school bus departs. As we count down to graduation and prepare for another great Extended School Year program, we invite you to read on and catch all the highlights and celebrations

Among those special moments was our annual Community Day. Though we were hoping for sunshine, the forecast had other plans. So, we moved the fun indoors for a festive event that still captured The Timothy School spirit.

As we look ahead, we’re getting ready to lace up for Heart and Sole, our 8th Annual Family Fun Run (details below!). We can’t wait to bring our community together again in support of our amazing students.

Your generosity this fiscal year has been incredible, we’re so close to reaching our annual giving goal! If you’ve been thinking about making a gift, now’s the perfect time. With our 25 for $25 Challenge underway, you can help us finish the year on a high note and ensure our programs remain vibrant, our students fully supported and our mission thriving. Every gift truly makes a difference!

And don’t forget to watch for our upcoming email celebrating The Timothy School Graduating Class of 2025!

With Appreciation,

Sarah Louise Hale

Director of Development shale@thetimothyschool.org

It's Always Sunny at The Timothy School!

Thank you to our families, volunteers, vendors, alumni and everyone who helped make the day such a success, all while raising funds to support our programs. You reminded us, once again, that it’s always sunny at The Timothy School.

From balloon animals and face painting to exciting raffles, live music with Mr. Jake, unique vendors and tasty treats, the school was buzzing with food, fun and friendship.

Check out some of the highlights from Community Day. Thank you to Aaron Benau, Timothy School alumnus, for many of the great photos.

Our Heart For Autism Art Show Goes On

The Heart for Autism Art Show continues to ripple through our school in the most beautiful ways.

Executive Director Sarah was deeply moved by an unexpected and incredibly touching gift from Secondary Student, and budding artist, Maddie.

When Maddie learned that Sarah had her eye on a heart painting by alumnus Gavin Moynagh, which sold quickly during the show, she quietly made a plan.

With the help and encouragement of Timothy Crafters Supervisor, Janet Iemolo, Maddie used her internship time to recreate the heart just for Sarah. The surprise delivery brought smiles, happy tears and a reminder of what makes our community so special.

Maddie’s thoughtfulness, kindness and generous heart reflect everything we cherish about our students.

Making A Joyful Noise: Annual Spring Concert

One of The Timothy School’s most cherished traditions is the Annual Spring Concert. Under the direction of our talented Music Therapist, Jake Mauersberg, our students performed "I'll Be There For You," "Count on Me," "True Colors," "We’re Going to Be Friends" and "You’ve Got a Friend in Me." Each classroom brought their own energy and style to the show, and the audience of families and friends were filled with joy to see each student shine in their own way.

A special highlight came during "Lean On Me," performed by Rooms 203 and 213, where Andy S. took a star turn. The moment captured what the Spring Concert is all about--students supporting one another, building confidence and expressing themselves through music.

As proud parent Tia S. shared, “We are beyond blessed to have such outstanding teachers in our lives!! Jake Mauersberg, you are a gift from above!”

Congratulations to Jake for leading his 4th Spring Concert and for recently earning his Master’s in Music Therapy from Temple University! His passion and creativity continue to open doors for our students to learn, grow and thrive through the power of music.

The Timothy Fund: 25 for $25 Challenge!

The Timothy Fund, our Annual Fund, helps bridge the gap between the funding we receive from school districts and state grants and the resources required to provide exceptional, individualized programs. These donations support curriculum enhancements, therapeutic services, job readiness training, improvements to our campus and many other vital resources.

Nearly 92 cents of every dollar goes directly to the programs that educate and empower our students.

Join the 25 for $25 Challenge!

To finish the year strong, we’re inviting 25 supporters to commit to a recurring gift of $25 a month to The Timothy Fund. Your recurring gift provides steady, meaningful support and your name will be listed on our website and social media to honor your commitment.

Together, we can build on this year’s success and create a stronger future for our students, our school and our community.

Color Days: School Spirit and Teamwork!

Color Days brought the whole school together for three days of games, friendly competition and lots of cheering! While Blue Team took home the win this year, the energy, teamwork and smiles all around proved that everyone was a winner.

At The Timothy School, fun activities like Color Days are opportunities for our students to build social skills, practice cooperation, follow directions and participate in inclusive group experiences.

Students Supporting Students

This winter, Germantown Academy juniors Gabriel Meinstein and Vincent Zhou organized a successful pickleball charity tournament through the nonprofit they help lead, the Mainline Tennis Association (MLTA), to raise funds for The Timothy School.

Held at the Upper Dublin Sports Center, the event brought together more than 40 young players and raised $1,200 through a combination of player fees and generous family sponsorships. A few weeks ago, The Timothy School was honored to receive this generous gift.

Thank you Gabriel and Vincent and everyone at MLTA for your generosity and annual act of kindness to support The Timothy School.

Aloha from The Spring Formal!

It was an afternoon of music, laughter and lasting memories as our students and faculty enjoyed a festive afternoon in a tropical paradise.

Events like the Spring Formal give our students the opportunity to practice real-life social experiences, from choosing an outfit to navigating conversations, dancing and celebrating as part of a group. Every moment builds confidence, connection and community.

Hiccuping Hippos

Room 210 had a blast reading "Hiccupotamus" by Aaron Zenz which is a story about a hippo with an unstoppable case of the hiccups. After reading the book together, students completed a themed worksheet and then created their very own “hiccuping hippos.”

Following step-by-step instructions, each student assembled and decorated a unique hippo, combining literacy, creativity and fine motor skills in one fun activity. Their hiccuping hippos made everyone smile!

This project is part of an ongoing art group led by teacher Leah LaPera, where students read a book together each week and then bring the story to life through a hands-on craft. Their creations are proudly displayed on the classroom door before being sent home.

Birthday Treats and Life Skills? Yes, Please!

To celebrate his big day, Birthday Boy Joey G. and his classmates turned a fun celebration into a meaningful learning experience when they whipped up a delicious batch of sugar cookies.

With guidance from their teachers and The Timothy School’s Speech-Language Pathologist and AAC Specialist, Ashley Johnson, while measuring, mixing, and sharing sweet moments together. the students practiced speech and communication skills, worked on occupational therapy goals and built functional academic skills.

The best part? Discovering just how delicious the results of their hard work tasted! At The Timothy School, learning is hands-on, engaging and always a little bit sweet.

Heart & Sole: 5K Family Fun Run

Transition Planning for the Future

On May 28th, The Timothy School hosted Part 2 of our virtual Transition Parent Information Series: “What Every Caregiver Needs to Know.” This important session brought together families, staff and expert panelists for a thoughtful discussion about planning for the future of individuals with disabilities.

Moderated by Transition Program Supervisor Adam Carter, the session featured insights from two outstanding professionals in the field: Joanna Craney, ChFC®, ChSNC®, WMCP® of Empowered Financial Strategies, and Adam Earl, President of National Care Advisors.

The panel covered a wide range of essential topics, including legal and financial planning, special needs trust strategies, ABLE accounts, the “three-person retirement” model and creating a quality life plan. With a focus on real-life scenarios and actionable strategies, families walked away feeling more informed and empowered about what comes next.

The Timothy school is committed to supporting not just our students, but the entire family by offering guidance, resources and community as they plan for the future.
