Celebrating Our 57th School Year
|
On September 5, 2023, the staff and faculty of The Timothy School welcomed 68 students from 26 different school districts for the 2023-2024 school year. Thank you to Timothy School alumnus and talented photographer, Aaron Benau, for capturing the joy on the first day of school.
A few days later, parents and caregivers attended Back-to-School Night. After a warm welcome from Executive Director, Sarah Greim, and presentations from our specialists, the families then visited the classrooms, where many of the students, such as Kristin Moffitt Jackowski's daughter Navy, had a special surprise waiting for them.

SmartBoards helped our Elementary Program learn about verbs and enabled our Middle School’s Book Club to study the classic, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
To support each student’s individual needs, our faculty utilizes Smart Boards, iPads, laptops and other technological tools throughout the day. These digital resources benefit children with autism in many ways - from communication and decision making to visual schedules and social interaction to vocational and daily living skills.
The Timothy School is grateful for our caring donors for investing in these crucial tools that help our students learn, grow and succeed.

On-Campus Internships
The Timothy School was POPPING with excitement as our students started their on-campus internships!
Students, faculty and staff were excited to see The Tornado-To-Go Popcorn Cart open for business. Middle School students fulfilled pre-paid orders and then personally delivered the popcorn to their customers. Additional on-campus internships include the School Store, Coffee Cart and, making its debut, TIM TV!
The Secondary School students were also hard at work with their on-campus internships. Our talented student-entrepreneurs designed and created cool “Timothy" logo shirts which they then sold to raise money for the school.
Authentic work experiences through on-campus internships provide skills and training for our students to help prepare them for off-campus internships at companies including Wawa, JoAnn Fabrics and Holiday Inn Express. We are grateful to these businesses for offering opportunities for Timothy School students.
THANK YOU to The Connelly Foundation, and other generous donors, for making essential programs like these possible.

Timothy School Family in the News
The Timothy School alum, Brandon Lewis ‘19, and his family were featured on 6ABC Action News! Aimee and Karl Famiano’s mission for Brandon’s Pancake House & Ice Cream Parlor is to provide a welcoming place of inclusion for families with special needs. Brandon loves to work at his namesake restaurant.
"The Timothy School taught Brandon the skills he uses today," said Aimee, Brandon's mom. She continued to share, "He learned so much during his internships while in the Secondary Program, including organizational and clerical skills and even how to stay calm during stressful moments."
Enjoy watching their story and next time you visit the Jersey Shore, stop by Brandon’s Pancake House & Ice Cream Parlor in Wildwood Crest for a delicious meal.

Happy Birthday to Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church! | The Timothy School began in 1966 as a mission of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church for children who were not allowed to attend school, stayed at home, or were placed in institutions. Thanks to Rev. Dr. David B. Watermulder who established The Timothy School and then served as the Founding President of the School Board and lead teacher Mrs. Marie Wedding, we have been able to provide an individualized education and specialized services for children with autism. Please join The Timothy School in wishing BMPC a Happy 150th Anniversary and celebration of their legacy which we are so proud to be part of.
We love to hear from our Alumni!

The Timothy School is the oldest non-profit approved private school in Pennsylvania devoted exclusively to teaching students with autism. Since 1966, we have worked to develop an understanding of autism that recognizes the strengths and uniqueness of our students and the specialized methods needed to expand their educational opportunities.
