After a long winter break, The Timothy School students were happy to reunite with their teachers and classmates and return to their school routine. Lindsey Gordon’s Elementary class was back at work in their Communication Speech Group with Speech Pathologist and AAC Specialist, Ashley Johnson. They enjoyed jamming out to the January song, completed “What’s Next?” worksheets and practiced requesting skills, using their AAC devices for support. | Their busy day continued with shopping at the school store, bowling with Missy Mundy in gym class to prepare for their trip to Devon Lanes and making a joyful noise in music class with music therapist, Jake Mauersberg.

Thanks to your support, The Timothy School has SURPASSED our Winter Goal of $20,000.00 and raised $22,516.00 for The Timothy Fund!

Biking Around
A few days before winter break, The Timothy School received a special delivery of new Berg Bikes, donated by DFB also known as Dom Fixes Bikes.
We are grateful to Dom and his team of elves for their generosity and thoughtfulness!
The students were excited to see the new additions to the playground.

Paige Steinkomph’s Middle School students have been reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," by Roald Dahl. TTS’s Reading Specialist Assistant, artist and proud alumnae, Phoebe Murer, has been providing creative ways to learn and comprehend the book. “I incorporate the art component to the reading program," Phoebe explains. "In this reading activity, the class made up their own candy and used adjectives to describe it. I drew the story on the Smart Board and the students followed along and drew it, as well." We are impressed with Joshua's drawing, shown above.
The Timothy School is excited about our new partnership with Hire Autism, a program led and run by the Organization for Autism Research. Thank you to the Hire Autism team, Courtney Carroll and Brittany Short, for joining TTS Transition Supervisor, Adam Carter, and Social Worker, Jackie Mellinger, to host our Parent Panel and presenting the opportunities and resources Hire Autism provides individuals with autism.
The Timothy School's Transition Program is a vital bridge between school and adulthood, to prepare our students for life after graduation. If your business or organization is interested in offering internship or job opportunities for our students, please contact shale@thetimothyschool.org. Thank you!

Sensory Inclusive Philadelphia
On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, former Mayor Jim Kenney and KultureCity (as well as The Phillie Phanatic and Swoop!) named Philadelphia the first-ever US city to be Sensory Inclusive Certified. The Timothy School applauds the city of Philadelphia on being named the first sensory inclusive city and creating more opportunities for our students throughout the area.
“For many years, The Timothy School has emphasized the importance of sensory integration and regulation for our students to enable them to achieve success in all environments,” expressed Sarah Greim, Executive Director of The Timothy School. “From weighted vests and sensory seat cushions in the classroom to noise-reduction headphones and fidget tools on community based instruction outings, our integrated teams (occupational therapists, special education teachers and speech therapists) have collaborated on ways to help students persist through sensory processing difficulties regardless of their environment. Doing so has allowed them to fully access activities and events within their own communities.”

Show that special someone how much you love them with a hand crafted gift by our talented students.
The Timothy Crafters is one of the unique programs offered at The Timothy School. As part of the on-campus internship program, students in the Middle and Secondary Programs learn and practice valuable skills by making professional-quality crafts while in a relaxed, social setting. The Timothy School's young entrepreneurs then sell the items to benefit the school's annual fund.
