Greetings From Mr. Grieco...
Dear SASEAS school families,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! It was great to welcome your children back to our hallways and classrooms. It is hard to believe that we are off and running in a new decade! The next month will be very busy as we prepare for Catholic Schools Week. Don’t forget…Open House is Sunday, January 26! Please see the information below regarding our open house and how you can help us get the word out.

I am not allowed to publicly share the group results yet, but I am excited to tell you that our 8th grade students rocked the High School Placement Test! As a group, they scored exceptionally. Many of these students will be making BIG decisions soon about where to attend high school. I wish them well as they make their decisions.

If you have not seen our new sensory path installed in the preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade hallway you have to come in and check it out! You can see a few pics on our Facebook page as well. It is awesome! Thank you to our amazing teachers who installed the path themselves over the Christmas break and to our PTO who helped to pay for it.

Make sure to mark your calendars for our second parent night with Scott Ervin: The Kid Whisperer . It will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd. His presentation will begin at 6:30 and go until 8:30. As an added bonus, Scott will be available beginning at 5:30 to hold a question and answer session before his presentation. So come early and ask Scott some specific questions that he can help you with.

Our school spelling bees are being held this week. Yesterday the Junior High campus held their spelling bee. Congratulations to the winner, Alex Serger, and to all our participants who were willing to put themselves out there and take a chance. We are very proud of all of you! The Seton campus spelling bee will be held tomorrow, January 9 in the cafeteria beginning at 1:15.

The 7 th and 8 th grade Science Fair is coming up soon and students are working hard putting the final touches on their projects. We are in need of Science fair judges. If you are interested in being a judge for the science fair please email Mrs. Jen Stitt at . Our goal is to get as close to 50 judges as possible.

Don’t forget, in the event of inclement weather, we follow what the Milford Exempted School District decides. You will receive and OptionC notification in the event of a school closing or delay which includes a phone call, an email and a text message if you opted to receive them.

Upcoming events:

  • Thursday, January 9 - Spelling Bee, Seton 1:15 pm
  • Friday, January 10 - Early Dismissal, 12:45 pm/1:00 pm; Spirit Day

Preschool News

Happy New Year! The Preschool staff and I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas break. The themes in our preschool classes this first week of January are all related to “Winter Weather”.

While they are awaiting the first snow of 2020, Mrs. Maura’s 3-year-old classes are learning about 4 types of penguins and the South Pole. The children are going magnetic fishing for fish letters to feed the penguins, and they will make penguins in art out of black paper that they have torn into pieces. Mrs. Christina’s class is counting Mittens and making a Mitten Color Book. They are learning about the letter “L” in language arts, and the number “5” while counting snowflakes in math.

Mrs. Alison’s, Mrs. Liz’s, and Mrs. Sheila’s 4-year-old classes are making snowmen out of shaving cream and painting melted snowmen in art. In their writing centers they are learning about the letter “K” and are writing the sight word “snow”. In math they are matching snowflakes and learning about snowflake symmetry. The religion lesson this week is “God Made Air”. Students are experimenting with “instant snow” at the sensory table and are exploring making snow and observing melting ice.

Mrs. Wendy’s 5-year-old class is learning about the letter “S” and the number “15”. Their sight word is “me”, but they are also learning to write the word “snow” and are writing words to complete the sentence, “These boots are made for _______”. They are developing their fine motor skills while making snowmen out of ripped paper in art, and in science they are making snow from baking soda and hair conditioner. In religion they are learning about the Epiphany and the Gifts of the Magi.

Preschool in-house registration is fast approaching. Registration packets will be sent home January 16 and 17. If you currently have children enrolled in SASEAS and would like a priority sibling registration packet for preschool, please let me know via phone: 513-575-9900 or email: .
