Potential Inclement Weather
With the impending threat of inclement weather this weekend, it is important that parents and students are informed about the potential actions that
be taken if our area is affected. Any school closure or delay will be communicated using SchoolMessenger, social media, the GCPS website, and local news outlets.
School Cancellation Option:
If the district cancels school due to inclement weather, the scheduled student/teacher holidays (February 15, March 29 in that order) will become regular school days for teachers and students.
Digital Learning Day Option:
In the event that a school closure is necessary, the district
opt to hold a Digital Learning Day rather than using a snow make-up day. If the decision is made to hold a Digital Learning Day, the school and district processes for online learning will go into effect. Assignments for high school students will be posted via eClass by 9:00 am. Students must complete assignments, which will also account for their attendance at school that day.
Delayed Start Option:
If inclement weather requires the opening of school to be delayed, the regular bus service and school start times will be delayed by the stated amount of time. For instance, for a 2-hour delay, students’ day would begin at 9:05; a 3 hour delay would put the school start time at 10:05.
Schools would follow the regularly scheduled release times.
The Best Option:
We do not experience inclement weather that impacts school, and school goes on as normal!
