SYC Track has a new travel program - House of Speed (HoS)! This new travel program provides guidance and support to student-athletes who have shown a special interest and talent in Track and Field. HoS provides opportunities for athletes to compete in national competitions through the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Athletes will compete in meets in the surrounding area (Northern Virginia, D.C., and Maryland).

HoS started this spring with a spring 2021 season and will continue as an annual program starting this summer. Participation in HoS is by invitation only. For more information about HoS, contact House of Speed Head Coach and Director Tanya House at
Fall Field Hockey registration is OPEN! Field Hockey is open to girls in grades 3-8 starting this fall. Players will learn the fundamentals of field hockey in a safe and fun
environment. In addition, as with all sports at SYC, the SYC Field Hockey program promotes good sportsmanship, team work, and respect for all participants and is intended to benefit players of a wide variety of skill levels.
Rugby Volunteer Farewell
Jim Adase pictured back row, far right.

Jim Adase has had an outsized impact to West End/SYC Rugby over the last 15+ years. He has been extremely generous with his time and treasure and has positively influenced countless girls and boys and served as coach, assistant coach, warehouse manager, field prep, rugby dad, and many other ad hoc roles. His shoes will be filled, but multiple volunteers and his legacy of generosity is intertwined with the past, present, and future success of West End/SYC Rugby.
Jim and Pam will enjoy their well-deserved retirement on the island of St Croix.
Fair Winds, Jim!

This year SYC Running created a scholarship to award its hardworking and dedicated high school volunteers. Each year SYC Running has over 25 volunteers from local high schools that help mentor our young athletes. The scholarship awards two seniors with $500 towards post-secondary education or job training. This year Jason Harsha of West Springfield High School and Aidan Spradlin of South County High School won. They will be attending the University of Mary Washington and Roanoke College, respectively.
