Welcome to our renewed and newly named company newsletter, "The Tradesman."

"The Tradesman" name was submitted and overwhelmingly chosen by a pool of voters, so "The Tradesman" it is. We will continue to quarterly recognize and share stories about the great work being done by the men and women of our company.

Trades Proud!

Trades Proud! That’s a message I share with folks every opportunity given to me. But that didn't seem to be often enough, not good enough coming from me alone, and certainly not reaching as many people as needed to hear it. So, we needed to do something special to share this message.

First, we created Stewart Richey's very own Trades Proud Logo. The logo encompasses Stewart Richey, our 50th badge, Trades Proud, the American Flag, and The Work That Builds America. I'm very proud of everything that logo represents.

Safety Snapshot!

Francis Scott Key famously penned “And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,” in a poem, after watching the British bomb Fort McHenry for 25 continuous hours and fail to take the fort. Later, his poem was put to music and renamed “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

With the 4^th of July approaching most of us will plan to be outside to watch the spectacular show of fireworks exploding overhead. The sight and sound of these fireworks represent the red glare of cannon fire and explosions that rattled those who fought for our freedom. As we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day and remember those who have fought for this great country, please remember to be safe.

Employee Spotlight: Larry Gevoc

Big congratulations to Larry Gevock for being the focus of the employee spotlight at Stewart Richey this quarter! With almost 3 decades of dedicated service, Larry’s upcoming retirement in September marks an impressive and final milestone in his career here. As he approaches this new and exciting time in his life, he shared with me that he has “always tried to work hard but it just gets tougher as you get older.”  

Larry’s journey with Stewart Richey began when he visited from California to Bowling Green on his vacation. During his stay he noticed a job advertisement in the newspaper seeking a mechanic at Stewart Richey. Larry decided to apply and fortunately he was able to land the job. Larry started out as a mechanic, and he remained committed to this role throughout the entirety of his career.

Doing Some Good for the Neighborhood: Chris Hughes

Stewart Richey is proud to recognize Chris Hughes for his outstanding impact on his local community. Chris's dedication to serving as a volunteer firefighter at the Flippin Fire Department since 1996 is truly commendable. Alongside his role as a firefighter, Chris has taken on the responsibilities of Fire Chief and Training Officer, demonstrating his commitment to the department's success.

Chris's decision to work at the fire department stems from his genuine desire to help others and contribute to the community. He views it as his civic responsibility to assist those in need and finds great satisfaction in providing support during difficult times. Chris's caring nature shines through as he recognizes the importance of showing care and concern to individuals beyond their immediate family, making sure they receive the necessary assistance and support after a distressing incident.
