Trinity Messenger

July 1, 2025

Many thanks to the Rev. Robert Woodroofe, our celebrant on this past Sunday. He will return to Trinity later this summer.

Please join us this Sunday July 6 for 9am Morning Prayer, led by Lydia Babbitt. Our lay preacher will be Ella Frauenhofer.

With different clergy visiting Trinity over the next few months, it is a great time to wear your Trinity name badge!

If you need one, please print your name clearly on the clipboard in the back of the church, and Mel will make you a badge.

Dear Trinity Parish,

Now that we are officially a “Parish in Transition,” we want to be sure that everyone continues to have access to everything they need.

We have created a document similar to what we used for Mother Carrie’s parental leave in that it addresses who to contact in what circumstance, along with ways to contact those people.

It is not a perfect document but it is a good place to start! Please click here to read it.

Never hesitate to contact either me or Roger Coutant (as Wardens) or any of your Vestry members. We are all here to service God in the church – and that means one another.

Life is transition, after all. And we manage to get through that pretty well when we all work together!

~Lydia Babbitt

Senior Warden

The Rev. Dr. Kevin Olds, Diocesan Canon for Congregations and Transitions, will be our celebrant and preacher on Sunday July 13 2025. He will lead a parish-wide meeting during Coffee Hour after the service to which all are invited to attend. Click here to read his brief biography.

We hope that you will join us to hear what the next transition steps will be, what to expect, and what not to expect as we search for Trinity’s next Priest in Charge.

We hope to see you there!

Many thanks to Ella and Vinny who not only hosted a delicious Coffee Hour (which included ice cream and animal crackers) but they made sure that the coffee table was aesthetically pleasing with a dazzling pattern of coffee mugs!

We don't expect every Coffee Hour to be as attractive as this one. Please consider signing up to be a Coffee Hour host! The clip board is in the Upper Parish Hall, by the coffee table during Coffee Hour.

Our Senior Warden Lydia Babbitt invites you to enjoy some local laughs with her and the Goshen Roundabouts, an improv comedy troupe! It's cabaret seating, so you can bring your own bottle, dinner, and dessert.

Seating is limited: these two performances will definitely sell out, so reserve your tickets early to avoid disappointment. Visit www.goshenplayers.org to purchase tickets.

Community Events

The Torrington Historical Society Summer Concert Series begins on July 19th at 6pm with a performance by the Peter McEachern Quintet.

The Peter McEachern Quintet will feature a new line up of jazz musicians playing original music from McEachern’s soon-to-be released CD, ‘Streamin’. In addition to McEachern, the Peter McEachern Quintet will feature noted musicians Noah Preminger (saxophone), Zwelakhe-Duma Belle Le Pere (bass), Michael Sarin (percussion) and Andrew Wilcox (piano).

The group will be performing original compositions. The music draws from the jazz tradition as well as personal influences and is a starting point for these gifted improvisors to tell their stories.

Click here to purchase tickets.

Admission is $10 per person.

Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets and refreshments.

In the event of rain, the concert will take place at

Five Points Arts, 855 University Drive, Torrington.
