Simplicity of Joining the Kingdom
In my high school years, I found myself trying out for my high school baseball team. After several weeks of tryouts, the coach (Mr. Hurley) posted the final roster of those who made the team. Thankfully I made the team as a freshman and each year of my high school career. After high school I joined the Marine Corps and had to endure 3 months of boot camp (Paris Island South Carolina), basic war training (BWT Camp Geiger North Carolina), communication school (Palm Springs California) and other activities to enjoy and obtain the title United States Marine.
When Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit (John 19:30). This was God paying the debt of sin in full. For us to accept this gift of salvation we simply must accept Jesus as our Lord and savior. Romans 10:9-10 states (9) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, “and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Through His Son Jesus, God made the ability of salvation simple and exclusive to accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
There is no fee we must pay for salvation. There is no extended initiation we must go through for us to accept Jesus Christ. There is no secret hand shake we must create and learn to join the kingdom of God. We do not have to study for an exam or go off to boot camp to prove ourselves worthy of the sacrifice and salvation provided by the Most High God. God has mad Jesus the exclusive way to join His kingdom. John 14:6 states “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
So, the next time we find ourselves witnessing to a non-believer, let’s make sure we confirm to them how simple it is to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior and join the kingdom of God. The blood of Jesus was spilled for all while we were sinners (Romans 5:8), and the debt of sin was paid in full when Jesus freely gave up his spirit, which makes our process of joining the kingdom so simple.
