The Trumpet for January 2nd

Second Sunday of Christmas

O God, who wonderfully created, and yet more wonderfully restored, the dignity of human nature: Grant that we may share the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity, your Son Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reading: Jeremiah 31:7-14, Ephesians 1:3-6, 15-19a, Psalm 84: 1-8, Luke 2:41-52

Time, Talent, and Treasure

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a pledge so far for our 2025-2026 stewardship campaign. We are truly appreciative of your support of Emmanuel in many different ways. If you would still like to submit your pledge for 2026, it can be placed in the offering plate or submitted online.

Epiphany at Emmanuel

We will have two chances to celebrate the Epiphany, when the wise men came to visit Jesus. The first will be our regular healing prayer at 10:00 A.M. In addition, there will be a Service of Light and Evening Prayer at 7:00 P.M. on January 6th in celebration of the Epiphany.

Home Blessings

There will be a sign-up on the Bulletin Board outside the sanctuary if you would like Father Nathan to bless your home for the new year. House blessings at Epiphany are an old Christian tradition to mark the season of Epiphany and bring blessings into the new year.

Annual Meeting

As specified in our bylaws, we will hold our Annual Meeting (and Parish Potluck) on Sunday, January 25th. We will have one service, followed by the meeting, followed by lunch. This is a chance to hear about what the church is doing and give your input on the direction the church takes.

If you are interested in serving on Vestry (similar to the Church Board of Directors), please reach out to Father Nathan by January 18th.

Adult Formation at Emmanuel

Our Adult Education classes will resume in January, after the completion of the Christmas Season.

Adult Forum: This is a chance to talk with fellow parishioners about a topic of interest relating to Faith and the Church. We will start the sessions with a Forum on Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and then go on to talking about the history of the early church. Upcoming forums are

  1. January 25: The Virgin Mary
  2. February 8th: The Apostles and the Early Church (1st and 2nd Centuries)
  3. February 25th: Development of the Early Church (3rd to the 5th Centuries)

Episcopal 101: This class covers the essential beliefs of the Episcopal Church.

  1. January 28th: Instructed Eucharist
  2. February 25th: The Nicene and Apostles' Creeds
