The Trumpet for February 13th

Last Sunday After the Epiphany

O God, who before the passion of your only begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Readings: Exodus 24: 12-18, Psalm 2, 2 Peter 1:16-21, Matthew 17:1-9

From the Rector

You may notice, as you walk around the sanctuary this week, that there are a couple of changes. These changes happened due to the hard work of, and in consultation with, several parishioners.

You may notice that the Pew torches have been stored away in preparation for Lent, in a new storage rack built by Linden White. This rack will keep the torches given by the Mosers safely and attractively stored when they are not needed. David Parker helped move a pew to the side aisle to help make room for this wonderfully made.

You may also notice that a pew has been moved in the back of the church to make room for a new children's area. This change was made with the approval of the vestry a while back and is meant to provide a space where kids can play and move safely during the service. The toys in the area will be sanitized weekly. Thank you to Heather, Dixon, Ed, and Katy, who helped put this area together.

This Sunday, we will promise, when we baptize and welcome new members to the body of Christ and into our community, that we will support them in their lives in Christ. Nothing we do to build up the body of Christ is done alone; it is all the work of many. And that work is meant not only to bring glory to God, but to support one another as we grow in the full stature of Christ.
