Hi everyone!
The photo to the right on this month's eNews is of a few of the half full, llc team members at Tides Family Services' Gala and Auction last week. I am incredibly honored and proud to have been sitting at the table with all of them as their paddles shot up during the Fund-A-Need portion of the evening.
As most of you know, since our founding day, half full, llc has embraced a social impact model in which we give back at every opportunity. In fact, one of our core values is "we give back" and that shows up on a daily basis whether it is finding a home for surplus food from our gigs or hosting community clean ups around our headquarters. We have a full-time community liaison on staff, our facilitators volunteer hundreds of hours virtually and in person, and we custom design community engagement team building activities when our corporate clients are looking for a purpose-driven experience for their teams.
We are resolved to give back.
Because of this commitment, you can imagine how many nonprofits we have had the good fortune to work with over the years. Until a few years ago. Almost overnight, our nonprofit clients and partners were challenged with incredible financial strains. Every cent now goes directly to the needs of the clients they serve.
Training staff on how to have courageous conversations was not going to help the mother who needed to put food on the table for her three kids. Building a healthy workplace culture was not going to help with the energy bill that needed to be paid before the electricity was shut off. And diving into the professional development needed to excel someone's career was not going to help the gentleman who started to live on the landing of the building because he lost his apartment.
We responded to this challenge so our nonprofit clients could also prioritize the employees who started working even harder for the populations they serve. We have swapped service for sponsorship opportunities. We have carved out more time to listen, to guide and to help. We have researched and written workforce development grants in partnership with our nonprofit clients (in which, opportunities like these are becoming less and less available as well).
So, what more can we do?
