Paideia at Tulsa Classical Academy
|
This month is one for the books. Not only are we opening the first Classical charter school in Oklahoma, but we are beginning a new chapter in the history of this great school.
On Monday, we begin teacher in-service. The Hillsdale team will be here to train our teachers in literacy, numeracy, and many other essential topics. We will also see major milestones met with the building.
All of this is building toward our Open House, Meet the Teacher Nights, and the glorious First Day of School. We are so excited to be at this moment in history! May we always seek Wisdom.
~Mr. Poarch, Head of School

We have playgrounds, kitchen equipment (and a food service provider), and the office is shaping up. Basketball goals are set, the classroom carpet has been installed, and the front doors are in. We are just waiting for the flagpole!
Construction is wrapping up. We are on track for our first day of school. SO MUCH happening at Tulsa Classical Academy. We are excited to welcome our students.

The countdown has officially begun: 18 Days!
August 31st is right around the corner and our teachers and staff are ready to welcome our students.
Stay tuned for car line directions and student class information.

We are pleased to announce that our Opening Year Gala will occur on the evening of September 30, 2023, at the DoubleTree Warren Place and will feature Kyle Mann, the Editor and Chief of the hilarious Babylon Bee. This event, hosted by the Classically Formed Foundation, will benefit Tulsa Classical Academy–a Hillsdale College K-12 Member School and Oklahoma’s first public tuition-free classical charter school.

A few days ago, when I was doing my daily check-in on the progress of the building, I did something I haven't done in a very long time. Noticing the swings had been installed, I decided to try them out. Before I did, I looked around to ensure no one would see me. Positive I was alone, I hopped up and started swinging back and forth. At first, I was tenuous, but as I gained confidence in the equipment and my latent ability, I soon swung up and down like a child. It was fun, even though I felt a bit silly.
As I dismounted the swing, I looked around and imagined TCA students swinging on those same swings, sliding down the slides, playing chase in the field, and hanging from the monkey bars. When I stopped and calculated how few days it was from then to when that vision would become a reality, it hit me–we're opening a school. Finally!
The founding board has been working and dreaming about it for so long that it's hard to imagine that it's finally here. After three-and-a-half years, we're ready, and we couldn't be more excited about the students and families we've attracted, the dedication of the faculty and staff, the Hillsdale K-12 curriculum, and the lovely building and property. Somehow, it all came together.
On behalf of the board, welcome to Tulsa Classical Academy! It's going to be a great year!
Nathan Phelps
Founding Board President
