The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Celebrates the Passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
Over the weekend, Congress passed the landmark Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal after years of work, months of debate, and weeks of pressure by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) and many of our partners and constituents—including you.

The USHCC, the nation’s largest Hispanic business organization, and our Board of Directors celebrate this significant investment to advance our nation’s infrastructure and drive the continued growth of the U.S. economy.

“The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce applauds this historic investment that will mean more business for Hispanic entrepreneurs to provide more efficiency and competitiveness as we make huge investments in rebuilding our nation’s highways, bridges, and energy grid. This bill also increases broadband access to low-income and rural areas. The USHCC is proud to champion the procurement opportunities that this bill opens up for millions of Hispanic business owners, many who are eager to access capital at the same rate as their peers. We will continue to partner with Hispanic businesses to ensure all owners are aware of the economic opportunities that the recent Infrastructure deal creates,” Ramiro A. Cavazos, President and CEO, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provides long-overdue investments to rebuild our nation’s roads, bridges, and rails as well as expand access to clean drinking water and high-speed internet for more Americans. The agreement also includes actions and tangible support to address the issues of climate change, cybersecurity, and extreme weather – all of which disproportionately impact low-income and minority communities and prevent wealth creation through more small business ownership.

The passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a critical step to strengthening supply chains that directly support and advance millions of Hispanic-owned businesses. Additionally, this legislation will increase economic opportunities by creating jobs to support the improvement of our nation’s access to ports, airports, railroads, and roads. It is estimated that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will add 1.5 million jobs each year over the next 10 years. The USHCC will continue to partner with key decision-makers to promote long-term economic development solutions for Hispanic-owned businesses supported by Congressional legislation.

This bill also includes funding for broadband access for 14 million Americans, clean drinking water for 10 million Americans, an upgraded energy grid, the largest investment in bridges since the construction of the Interstate Highway system, and more.

New federal contract opportunities for small businesses will be made available soon for our member businesses to bid on and get prepared for. The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will ensure that more transparency and equity be present for the important work that needs to be done for our nation.

We will continue to collaborate and partner with our allies throughout the country that represent the powerful diversity that fuels America’s economy.

We urge Congress to pass the Build Back Better Act which adds the capital and technical assistance needed for small business owners to remain competitive for new federal contracts.
