CMS Science Club kicks off with a sweet dive into beekeeping!

Carrollton Middle School Science Club members kicked off their first meeting of the year with a "buzz" of excitement, diving into the world of bees. They explored hives in action, tried on beekeeper suits, observed bees up close under microscopes, tasted fresh honey, and even learned about bee dances and how they help locate hives. A huge thank you to Dr. Joe Hendricks, Professor of Biology and Co-Director of the Wildlife Ecology Certificate Program at the University of West Georgia, and his team for sharing their expertise and making this experience possible for students.

Former Carrollton band director honored at Carrollton Invitational

Tuesday evening, the Carrollton Trojan Marching Band hosted a special exhibition featuring the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. During the event, former CHS Band Director Don Hall was recognized for his lasting impact on Carrollton's band program. Hall was a UGA Redcoat Band Captain in 1961 and 1962. He served at Carrollton from 1968-1998 and led the band in two Rose Parades and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He also brought the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" to Carrollton, a nod to UGA's fight song, "Glory, Glory," which shares the same melody. The performance of "Battle Hymn" was a special tribute during the evening.
